wimamp 3 - a peice of shit

anyone else having skipping problems with it? I run the thing on a p4 2.4 GGZ with DDR ram it fucking skips when i load a program or tab-over to a different window... if i use winamp 2 i dont have these problems

Anyone else encountering this?

Yeah, which is why I don't use WinAmp 3 (very buggy).

Sometimes, I can't stream of live radio stations correctly, etc.

thats why I still use 2.77... but I heard 2.8 will do as well.
WAY too much memory and cpu usage with winamp3!

The only difference i really see is that Winamp 3 will play video...but that still doesnt really explain why they would release such a peice of shit software like that...

I remember the days when winamp rocked and it wasnt BLOATWARE..

Anyone using anything else which just simply plays sound files and nothing else?

The problem is with the Sound Card drivers. I have a p4 2.53 running a gig of DDR Ram and I was having problems.

You have one of two options, either downgrade to winamp 2.xx which is what I just did, you're not missing much. Or, you can install the wa3update patch http://www.blorp.com/~peter/wa3/wa3update.exe

Additionally:

"If you own a SoundBlaster Live or SoundBlaster Audigy then you definitely need to update your drivers. In fact since the drivers from Creative are coded by morons it is highly recommended that you instead use the kX Project Drivers. These should clear up most problems with Creative sound cards."

Winamp 3 is great.... if you have a P4 2.7 ghz with 1 gig of RAM, and plenty fo time to figure out the fucking controls. Winamp 2.8 is about the closest thing I've seen to a perfect MP3 player. Fuck upgrading.

I'm running flashfxp, mediaplayer9, mailwasher, zonealarm, antivirus, gnucleus, opera, trillian, and the usual background crap - WA3 is happy Xfading away...
- my pc is puny these days and I've no problem - ever consider it's something YOU have/not done?

Works fine for me, P4 2.0 Ghz 512Ram, I use the MMD3 skin which is the best interface I've seen for a media player. There are some annoying bugs like you can't shut down video windows while they're playing, but it's only minor.

I never really had a prob with it, but the latest versions just have too many goddamn unneeded features.
I finally ditched it and just went with Windows Media Player.
It easily does everything I need, plus some stuff I didn't even know I needed.
