Here are is a non-punk song for all of you
I like to party fucking hard. I like my rock and roll the same.
Don't give a fuck if I burn out. Don't give a fuck if I fade away.
So back to the Motor-League with me before I'm forced to face the wrath of a well-heeled buying public who live vicariously through tortured-artist college-rock and floor-punching macho pabulum.
Back to the Motor League I go.
Once thought I drew a lucky hand. Turned out to be a live grenade of play-acting "anarchists" and Mommy's-little-skinheads, death-threats and sycophants and wieners drunk on straight-edge.
Fuck off. Who cares?
I'd rather hi-lite Trip-Tiks than listen to your bullshit.
Fuck off. Who cares about your stupid scenes, your shitty zines, the straw-men you build up to burn.
It never ceases to amaze me and as I'm suffering your perfection it reminds me of my own race to redress my own sad history of mouthed feet. Eaten hats. Teated bulls. Amish phone-books. Drunken brawls.
But what have we here? 15 years later it still reeks of ?Swill and Chickenshit Conformists with their fists in the air; like-father, like-son "rebels? bloated on korn, eminems and bizkits.
Lord, hear our prayer: take back your Amy Grant mosh-crews and your fair-weather politics.
Blow-dry my hair and stick me on a ten-speed.
Back to the Motor League.
I guess life is just a popularity contest. Success, the ability to perform within a framework of obedience. Just ask the candy-coated Joy-Cam rock-bands selling shoes for venture-capitalists, silencing competing messages, rounding off the jagged edges. Today is good day to die.

Yeah, but you know what? honest truth... althought I fucking hate Emo, Electroclash, and whatever the new forms of mall punk are called... Im glad they are around. At least they keep Punk and Hardcore alive enough that bands like Sick of it All, Bad Brains, AF, and even the Buzzcocks can still tour.Originally posted by [Labret]

Agnostic Front today has a bigger draw than Great White, and those clowns used to pull huge audiences. And look at Blood for Blood, relatively new band - pure Hardcore.
Lets play oppositeland. What if this new school mall punk was replaced with new school mall Glam? Ahhh man, I just got shivers. Nasty nasty nasty. And dont try and tell me that mall glam is still alive, I dont wanna know. I dont wanna hear it. I'll just pretend it never ever happened.Comment

As for SOIA, AF, and Bad Brains (err I mean Soul Brains), are all on major labels now and have to tour with others on their label. Long gone are the days of SOIA playing small shows with just local hardcore talent, the way it should be.
Hardcore is alive and well. Bands like the Promise, Sworn Enemy, No Warning, Redline, Everybody Gets Hurt, Embrace Today, Terror, I could make this list go on forever... but, none of the above mentioned bands (soia, af, etc) hardly ever tour with hardcore bands. They have abandoned hardcore for the almighty buck. I lost respect for most of them. AF wasnt supposed to be a huge draw, they were never meant to appeal to the masses. The only reason they do now is because they have allowed themselves to be whored out to the masses. Agnostic Front died after Liberty, they should change their name. They are an Oi band now, and not even a very good one.Last edited by [Labret]; 03-14-2003, 03:13 PM.Comment

Eh Devin Townsend is Canadian too heheh
Havent listened to them obviously as long as you, but yeah, I love Not One Truth on Under The Knife, way more than Perserverance, although tracks 2-4 on Perseverance do the job.

Nice.
Folks its good to know that Im not alone in this industry.
During the last Cybernet show in Vegas I went to a Primer55 show.
Alone.
I've got some old school friends in Phoenix, dont know if there are any shows or events happening that weekend, but if there are they will know about it and I'm there. During the last Phoenix show I wound up at a shitty shitty dive bar downtown. Jukebox was playing the Business, and it was total chaos. Drunken skins learning to breath fire with 151.
What a relief. Its nice to leave a show to go to a place I am totally familiar with, faces change, but people stay the same.Comment

You can generally find me at Manitobas, Motor City, Doc Hollidays, and the Sweetwater in Brooklyn. Thats the best of them all.
ACE bar was cool til they fired the bartenders and stocked it up with NYC students.

I believe it, Jasta sucks the big corporate cock. I almost loath him more than any other human being for what he has done. He brought attention to core. Its bad enough all the numetal lameasses who have jacked hardcore and added more pretty boys and hiphop into the mix, but Hatebreed... it was too good. When Satisfaction is the Death of Desire hit, it was like a fucking bomb went off. To me it was hardcore prodigy. It was too good, and unfortunately it had some mainstream appeal due to the god awful amounts of numetal faggotry that is sweeping the land. And it was nice for a niche that was getting clogged with sxe and emo core faggotry.
Rasied Fist, never understood how Raised Fist got so big in Canada. Either German or Dutch hardcore, signed to Epitaph after they got huge in Europe and a decent amount of success in the USA. But why Canada? Even when they came on tour, they only went through Canada.
Ill give them one thing, they sounds the same now as they did before. It has no mainstream appeal at all, I dont get it.
Was it something off Dedication?
Listen to some Hatebreed Under the Knife era, and listen to them now... insane what they did to themselves. This new album is a fucking insult to humanity.Last edited by [Labret]; 03-14-2003, 10:59 PM.Comment

It's funny, if you hang out with the singer from Blood For Blood he's really laid back and easygoing. Wouldn't know from the music. The singer from redline was a substitute teacher at my high school. I don't think of metal at all when I think of Propagandhi. Maybe I just haven't listened to their newer shit. Crucified is an Iron Cross song. They played at AF's 20th anniversary show. Nothin like hearin Roger yell CRUCIFIED and yelling SKINHEAD ARMY right back in his face with a bunch of other drunk skins at CBGB's.Originally posted by [Labret]
Another reason I hate Propaghandi, they just ripped off Gorilla Biscuits and repackaged it.
This whole idea of Propaghandi innovating by mixing punk and metal is mind numbing.
This was Gorilla Biscuits doing it in 1989. Before that, we had bands like the Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Negative Approach.
Who did Propaghandi rip off?
Gorilla Biscuits - New Direction 1989 godfathers of youthcrew hardcore
Agnostic Front - Crucified 1987 back when they were good.
This punk metal hybrid has been around awhile. Some of us call it hardcore. Propoghandi did not invent it.

At 19 he was touring with Stve Vai as his side guitarist.
His drummer is gene Hoglan from Death and testament.
Absolutely fabulous, cept in America they are distributed through Century Media.
but if you go to his site his merch kicks ass and his cds are cheap as fuck, postage included.
He does everything under different titles.

American Nightmare - Fuck What Fireworks Stand For. The breakdown starting around 1:20 was designed with floorpunching in mind.
Embrace Today
The Promise - Seriously gay name, but definitely one of the best hardcore releases in a loooong time.
Ramallah - White Trash Rob from Blood for Bloods new band. You'll recognize the voice instantly.
Between the Buried and Me - emo swept through hardcore like the aids virus, this shit cracks me up now. This is the newer generation of emocore, more metalcore than anything else, and upon first glance/listen its damn good metalcore... but then just like every other emo faggario unit, they fag out HARD right in the middle of the song.Last edited by [Labret]; 03-15-2003, 09:26 AM.Comment
