DynaSpain -- If you want to call me and give me your card num I can find out why you were getting declined. Chances are that if you tried it now it would work as I know there were some cards that were getting declined that should not have and those issues have been resolved.
Epassporte has two primary and industry specific elements.
*Surfer side acceptance from all over the world (with a few Federally regulated exceptions) so that those countries you could not bill for before now can use a Visa card.
*Instant Global Peer-to-Peer payments. I personally think that this functionality is most appealing for the affilaite community. It's an easy, cheap, global, and fast way to move money to any other account holder. This is HUGE!
Epassporte has potential that has not been fully realized yet. I think you will continue to see it develop and improve very quickly as webmaster input helps to drive it usability and features.
Talk to me about any ideas you might have. Epassporte is all ears.
So all you guys need now is fingers to type some replies..
Mark, who did you send this email that you've referred to twice to?
I know it wasn't me, but if you'd like to send me a copy I can answer you in about 30 seconds flat.

There was a mass rush to PayPal back when the Visa fees were announced last September and put into effect in November. Many people didn't pay the mandatory Visa/MC fees, because when you set up a "buy it now" or "subscription" button the form doesn't ask you if you're doing it for adult or not.
Take a look at all of the adult sites out there offering PayPal as a payment option - do you really think ALL of them paid that $1500 fee? Think again, Gumby.
PayPal got a major slap in the face and reacted the same way Visa did - by putting its fist down and saying "we're not going to fuck with these chargebacks anymore".
They still process for adult products in the Mature Audiences categories in the eBay auctions - if this were about republicans or any of that bullshit, they wouldn't be doing that. It's all about control. In the auctions, feedback is a wonderful control where the actual users police the sellers, and SafeHarbor can cut anyone off at a moment's notice.
They don't have that control with non-auction transactions.
Get your head out of your ass, quit bitching about the republicans, and instead start bitching about your fellow webmasters who are lying to the surfers and cheating - and who are causing all of this shit to come down on the rest of you.
It's THEIR chargebacks that are causing this, not the Republicans.

That wont happen we all know websites big and small that screw the customer. The ones that charge high monthly fees for crap and the same old pics but its your sponsor or your friends sponsor so no ones says any thing. The people that sell the dick grow pills that dont work. We know a girl who posts on her site 500 new pics this week and it basically a hour video and they posted the whole thing frame by frame as pics. I mean every frame thats a rip off but what can you say really. You say to yourself its none of my business but actually it is. All of these things affect our future in adult entertainment. We are all too polite. What we can do is start a association and get a bunch of press for it (websites and adult mags) that a site to be in this association they must fellow rules and guidelines. That if a surfer comes to that site they know they will not get ripped off. Also no blowjobs and mouths full of cum on the tour pages so we are also protect kids. I will get blown off but when there is no more cc processing, we will have no one to blame but ourselves. You can laugh also but if your only bankable skill is making porn I would take a good hard look at this.

"Adult" or "sexually-oriented" material includes, but is not limited to:
Any item that portrays frontal nudity will normally be treated as "adult" material
--- It looks like all of you designers have to stop putting hardcore stuff in your tours if you want to use PayPal for processing.
From what I understand from a few phonecalls to paypal designers and content providers are safe ..
It is mostly the actual sale of " pornography " and the retail end of the whole biz .. not the behind the scenes , business to business transactions ..
however I was also told that sale of adult DVDs, Toys etc were also allowed .. Which doesn't seem
I asked that maybe they send a rep here to let people know whats going on. yeah
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

How do we accept payments with this system w/o going through a lot of red tape? I investigated the website last month -- and there didn't seem any answer to accepting payments, unless you are already accepting credit cards... but if such is the case, why the fuck does anyone care about epassporte if they can already accept credit cards? I hope that people don't see epassporte as a replacement for Paypal, because from what I can tell from the epassporte website, that is not the case at all...
First they make it very tough for anyone to get a high-risk merchant account in the US, pushing all the sites to the 3rd party processors. Then they make the processors report on each merchant by website. Anybody see this as a little suspect?
Why should visa care about charges by website? It's not as if, for example, a gym must report on chargebacks by store location. The reason is future content legislation. Visa wants adult out of the US, period.
And yes, you can point your finger at the republicans. The reason paypal doesn't apply this rule to adult on ebay is because they're just following the rules that are handed down to them by visa and getting away with as much as they can for the time being. Ebay is their company, so it's not a submerchant, it's the merchant, that makes the IPSP rules not apply.
This isn't the end of this. The iBills, and CCBills will keep having tighter rules imposed on them by Visa that they'll pass down to the webmasters. It's a very elaborate way for the bush administration to push adult out without fighting the constitutional issues. Because it's not the administration right? It's just your processor saying they no longer allow facials. And for the processor it's just big mysterious visa USA making it's elusive rules.
Sorry this rant is so long. One more bit. Have you ever wondered why Visa would -mind- chargebacks? They make plenty of money on them on merchant fees. Do you really believe chargebacks are such a bad thing for them? I'll give my conspiracy theory on this some other time.
You really can't think of a reason why VISA would want chargebacks broken down by site?
You don't know why VISA doesn't like chargebacks?
LOL

I was thinking the same thing -- it's all the way at the bottom of their site! BUT you can't even access it until a) you take a 3 page survey (they popup a 4th survey), b) verify your email address with a passcode, then c) EVEN AFTER ALL THAT you have to provide Ebay with a creditcard # -- just to browse a fucking adult section... It's not even a porn site!
You guys have the whole company playing on the boards or what?

I've got an account with Pay Systems somwhere that I havent used for ages......gonna dig it out now....jesus
Forget Paysystems: they cut me off New Year's eve with 2 minutes notice, didn't pay me till I served them with papers....
BTW, I had 0 ( none) chargebacks on selling vids... ( Same with Paypal: no chargebacks).
Here is the email of Paysystem of this weeK;;
Dear Merchant,
PaySystems Corporation has recently amended its business policies, and as a result, will no longer be able to support online merchants in your industry category. As a result, in accordance with Section 6.3 of your current processing agreement, you are hereby advised that your account with PaySystems will be closed in 10 business days.
Please be advised that this decision will not affect your processing capabilities in the interim, nor will it interfere with your usual settlement structure. We would be glad to help expedite the transfer to your new processor though whatever means possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and extend our best wishes in your future business ventures.
Very truly yours,

They say that now but I would hate to have my account frozen if I was a webhost. http://www.paypalsucks.com/
There are a ton of horror stories from people dealing with paypal. You say the people on the phone told you that webhosts and content providers are cool, are these the same people that have been telling people at conventions that paypal was going to be processing adult membership for the long haul?
Got my reply from PayPal re clarification on their position regarding Adult transactions, and I hope it sheds some light - hmmm

Daniel -
The announcement that went out yesterday unfortunately does state
that PayPal, starting on May 12, 2003, will no longer be able to process
adult-related transactions. I apologize for all inconveniences this has
caused and can certainly understand your frustration. Let me know if you
have any logistical questions and I'll do my best to get you timely answers.

First you will need to get a contract for a commercial account, then you'll need the APIs from the tech department. It's pretty simple really.
Honestly, I'm really happy that PayPal finally made a clear policy. It looks like this new policy may be inconvenient, but it appears to be more likely to be fair in the sense of being even-handed.

Ummm - I don't understand how you arrive at that conclusion - are you blonde per chance?
Ummm - I don't understand how you arrive at that conclusion - are you blonde per chance?
I prefer an even-handed approach. If I know the rules, then I can follow them. Because my sites are larger than others in my niche, I was basically the only person in my niche who paypal asked to pay the $1,500 fee and register my sites. I think putting yourself in a file of people who do a certain thing is dangerous and the history of oppression bears me out on this. I would have been willing to pay the fee, if the fee was the same for everyone, but I would not have been willing to do the registration thing. But it really bothered me that no one else I knew had had to deal with this problem. Hit the books and you will see that every horrible regime in the history of the world began with lists of certain sorts of people and rules which could be enforced randomly at the whim of those in charge.
Beats me if I am blonde. Right now, it is red and faded purple.
