I got talked into going to his concert by a bunch of friends one New Years Eve. Even though I dig heavier music, I figured what the fuck, it could'nt be all that bad. Plus I was trying to tag this hot chick who was a big Mathews fan and thought it was so cool I was going with her.
Most boring fucking shit I have ever seen in my entire life. I sat there all night smoking joint after joint thinking "This guy has got to move from behind that microphone at least once".
I almost want to puke just thinking about it.

You must have seen him on a bad night. I've seen him 3 times in the last 16 months and each time he puts on a damn good show. If you aren't into the music of the band you are going to watch then most likely you are not going to have a good time.
My worst concert: Marilyn Manson at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. I got a job doing security for concerts because I got to see shows for free and usually got to get very close to the stage. The Lt. Governor of Oklahoma was a major bitch with a serious religious attitude. She tried everything she could to get the concert cancelled. The night of the concert the show started and after about 3 songs State Police officers started making themselves known to all the security guys (there were about 75 of us) and ordered us to come with them to a room behind the stage, leaving nobody doing security. Turns out that the Lt. Governor was able to find an old law requiring unarmed security guards to go thru a class and be licensed (when we were hired we were told we only need a temporary unarmed security license which I went downtown and got for $30). We all (except for 3 or 4 guys who had actual security licenses) had to turn our security shirts inside-out and leave the building. While we were leaving the crowd started going nuts since there was no security and the police were getting the fuck out of there because they didn't want to be stuck in a building with a massive mob of wild goth kids. I snuck off from the group and stood in the back of the crowd watching the show for a while. Things got out of hand quickly and after a while fights were breaking out and people were getting hurt. A football player for the Sooners ended up in a clear area in the middle of the crowd and started daring people to attack him. Probably 10 guys in a row went in and each one of them left bleeding and bruised. The whole place was chaos and yet the show continued. When it finally ended the lights came on and the police came back in and started herding everyone out. Outside there was a line of ambulances, cop cars, firetrucks, and news vans. Reporters were everywhere interviewing people coming out and parents who had heard of the riot and were crying their eyes out looking for their kids. One of the reporters noticed my inside out security shirt and started asking me shit like why did I not help stop the mob (yeah, right!).
The next day the Lt. Governor was quoted as saying that the security guards (us) were directly responsible for the damage and injuries because we let it happen and that they only removed us AFTER the riot started (which was pure bullshit).
It was a very intense experience and Marilyn Manson was definately into it because he was rocking his ass off while he watched it all happen. One of the best performances I have seen in a long time.
Why did it suck? Because I didn't get paid for the job since we didn't work the whole show!
