Gas Station Mishap

So my boss and I are in San Diego leaving to come home when we pull in to get some gas. So, I pay via debit card and Chris fills up his tank. I go inside to buy smokes and come out. I get the receipt and it's all fucked up, but i say screw it and we leave. Well he starts driving away and we hear this fucked up noise, I turn around and look and he is still attached to the pump! He forgot to take it out, he just assumed he had. so then, I get the real receipt and we just take off...

Ever happen to anyone else????

kristin,

In 90-91 I was a gas station attendant. What you did was called a "drive-off" - when someone drives off with the pump still attached to the car. Back then,it was very expensive to repair the damage done to the pump. Nowadays they have break-a-way hoses that prevent any serious damage from happening, doesn't mean you won't jack your car up.

At least they have a cc record of who last used the pump...you may want to check your bill this month for anything unusual :-)

I used to run my uncles gas station in massachusetts, many times people ran off the nozzle. If they had cameras, the cops will be calling you guys and your insurance will be paying for the drive off.

Good luck and I hope they dont get to call you.. heh

Here in Fla it's not that uncommon to see a car with a hose hanging out of the gas tank. Alzheimer's at work. (but not in this case, I assume)

It was just a ring that I had to pull back and it snaped right back in place.

It wouldnt have happened but I thought the pump was put up (i'm on the other side of the car) because Kristin got the reciept out of pump and yet did not see the gas pump in the car.

It was more so that I was on the other side of the car for a good while and when she walked up to the car and did that I just got in thinking to myself that the pump was taken care of..

My favorite was at a Mohawk station years ago, a girl and her boyfriend were having an argument in the store when she decided to just leave. She jumped into his pickup, which the attendant was still filling, and started to drive away. When the gas jockey screeched, she panicked and floored it, driving right over the island and tore the next gas pump clean off, and got high-centered on it when it went under the truck.

Not only did she do $15,000 worth of damage to the station, and a few thousand worth to the truck, but in her panicked state, she lost her bladder all over the seat.

That poor dumb fucker! I haven't had a good laugh like that in a long time.

haha, I ripped a pump out years ago.. before they had those safety release thingies. Really fucked the thing up. I'd paid for the gas with cash, and the manager tried to get me to give up my credit card #, drivers license and insurance. Told him I had to go get the stuff from my car, jumped in and took off.

well ya know...

there was this one time i was working real late at the gas station and this guy with a crazy haircut rides up on his motorcycle and decides he wants to rob me. but then this robot cop rolls up and beats this guy. then the gas station i was so happily working at blows up. i still shake my head at what happened that night.

that robot cop was pretty crazy though. he had a gun that fired like a machine gun. pretty psycho.
