This question is too vague - nobody can say "you will have more success with text instead of thumb". It depends on YOU, and how you work it.
If you listen to a lot of people, they'll tell you that the Teen niche is dead. Do yourself a big favor and ignore 99% of the shit that people say. If you want to try a thumb preview, do it. Text links are always for productive than pics/thumbs in the long run. I have tried using pics/thumbs on escort directories & hotel directories & the surfers seem to prefer text links in the end.
