    Help - How to clean up cat piss?

    Okay. Roomates cat has a fucking deathwish. It decided to piss on my bed. A very expensive mattress+boxspring set. It wants to die. So... I shall arrange it.

    But for now - how can I clean cat piss out of a mattress? I dumped water on it like you would carpet - but what is the best way to get it out without just spraying febreeze on it?

    Please help! no one else in the world is up but GFYers

                  Theres no way to clean that. The stale smell of cat urine will linger behind. Time to buy a new mattress.

                                      BURN IT! We had a roomate's cat piss on a cofmorter and after having it professionally cleaned TWICE it still stunk. About all you can do is toss it and give your roomie a bill for a new mattress. I know it sounds extreme, but it is true. Febreeze might work for a while, but the piss will persist.

                                                          first. wash your sheets (obviously)
                                                          then just get a carpet cleaner, or go to petsmart, they have stuff to clean up piss and odor.. use that on it.. and presto.. your good to go..

                                                                          Clean it with whatever safe cleaner you have for mattresses. Then cover the infected area with vinegar to neutralize the urine. Leave the vinegar on for a day or two, maybe flip the matress over and sleep on the other side for the time being... Then flip it back over, clean it a few more times, and it should be gone.

Or buy a new mattress , as if im going to sleep on a mattress that has piss on it, LOL i dont care how much you clean the damn thing. You could scour it with acid and i still aint sleeping on it. Now puke is a whole nother story , LOL i have barfed a few times on my bed , but it never went into the mattress , urine is bad that way .

                                                                                              PETsMART has a bunch of products specifically for getting the cat urine smell out. I had a quick browse and some even mentioned matresses. Worth a try before burning it.

                                                                                                          I don't know where you live, but if you can do it it's the easiest: just clean it and put by the sun for a day or an afternoon. The smell would be history.

                                                                                                                  I have "Industry Strength" cat urine remvoer and an odour spray, cost me over $25 to for two little bottles of this shit, DIDN'T WORK! Just made the place smell like a chemical war mixed with fucking cat piss....

                                                                                                                  I'm sleeping in a box til I get the new mattress, can't handle sleeping over it, wake up and shower the cat reak off myself..

                                                                                                                          Odo-ban It's a very powerful deodorant/disinfectant as well as a good enzymatic cleaner. It will break down the uric salts in the urine as well as deodorize the spot where kitty pissed so he won't be incline to turn that spot into hie regular littering spot. You can but it bulk at Wal-Mart, Sam's and I used to see it at Costco.

                                                                                                                              try a product called "Nature's Miracle". my cat was really pissed off at me after taking her to the vet. when i put her in the car, she let loose on my front seat. it took several dousings with this stuff but i actually did get the smell out. most petsmarts carry it.

                                                                                                                                  This stuff is amazing. Soak the spot and then blot dry. Will remove all manner of piss and the odor/stain as well.

I would suggest you go to the pet store and get some enzyme spray.. It removes the scent of the pee by breaking down the urine itself.. otherwise the cat will do it there again. I would also suggest that when washing the bedding, do so with a cup of vinegar. It neutralizes the urine smell and the cats can't smell it anymore either.

Puss pissed on the bed cause he thought it belonged to him. So teach him who the bed belongs to.

                                                                                                                                                  1) Piss on your own bed. Cat will understand its your bed.
                                                                                                                                                  2) Piss on cat, you now own his ass.
                                                                                                                                                  3) Piss on your flat mate... this will impress cat, you will be one bad ass mother.

                                                                                                                                                  I had a cat that woke up, crapped on the sofa. No question of being let out. Just did it.

                                                                                                                                                  Now that old sofa smelt bad, and cats nose got pushed into the mess. Did cat learn yep, he did.

                                                                                                                                                  If it is a male cat, throw the bed, and give your flat mate a bill. A female cat urine will be easier to remove , white vinagar or pure alcohol, should do it.

                                                                                                                                                  Make sure the cat has a litter tray in future and don't take it out on him as he does not realise what he has done.

                                                                                                                                                      I'm really disappointed to see the antifreeze comment, etc. Wonder just how many people would do that and be willing to sit and watch what it does to the animal.

                                                                                                                                                              Follow these steps:

                                                                                                                                                              1. Put cat in a medium sized shipping box.
                                                                                                                                                              2. Add 1 dog to the package.
                                                                                                                                                              3. Close lid.
                                                                                                                                                              4. When the noise dies down open box and remove dog.
                                                                                                                                                              5. Discard box.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Put cat on your bed in exactly the same spot it peed.
                                                                                                                                                                                  VERY IMPORTANT
                                                                                                                                                                                  It must be EXACTLY the same spot or this won't work.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Now shoot the cat with a handgun. (no spray on walls)

                                                                                                                                                                                  Go out for around four hours. (allowing blood to soak deep into mattress)

                                                                                                                                                                                  Come back clean up the mess, your done.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Why does this work?

                                                                                                                                                                                  Cat's blood has a natural enzyme to completely breakdown cat urine.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Problem solved with no trip to the store and it will never happen again.

You will probably never get rid of the smell 100%. I have tried every product and remedy you can think of from enzymes to old fashioned methods and that smell always lingers.

                                                                                                                                                                                      My buddies new house reaks of cat urine in his utility room where the previous owner had the litter box. The smell is part of the concrete and just wont go away.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Try a few different things. Flip the mattress over and head to toe (if its the type of mattress that isnt one sided) and maybe you will be able to live with it.
