                                                                                              Bottom line is the business is now getting taken over by professionals and if you ar not offering something to make them money they will know it and not buy, regardless of how much booze you throw down their throat.

                                                                                              There will always be a place for the conventions and they wil stay with us, because the networking done around the bars and on the show floor will always pay well enough.

                                                                                              I'm missing out on Internext this year, first time in years, but found at Miami and Prague gor more than enough business for the price of a T-Shirt with my name embroidered on it.

                                                                                                  I think it's a step in the right direction to eliminate the large numbers of gigantic parties. This way the companies can spend less money, and concentrate on the people that do bring them the cash.

Spending 100,000 on a party does not make your PRODUCT good and if your PRODUCT is not converting then no matter how many parties you throw you arent going to retain any traffic if a webmaster sends you some traffic.

                                                                                                                                                          All of these are excellent points - stable companies are feeling hit hard to the point of shutting down, content providers sales are dropping, webmasters are closing shop for the reasons mentioned above.

                                                                                                                                                          Still - there can be money made and to not be at the show means a missed opportunity if you are there for the purpose of doing business. I think that Internext will have to revisit their idea that everyone now is not really prepared to spend thousands on a trip and to be more fiscal in developing a show or they too will not be able to survive.
