    21 clicks 20 signups

    I just gut a new webmaster promoting my program, with 21 clicks and 20 signups
    Well even I don't think that our program is that good
    What do you think is this CC faod webmaster an ass or what?

                                      Check the ip's that the signups came from... make sure they arent all on the same network, or all proxies.

                                      Check the referring url to see where they are coming from.

                                                      If he will be able to prove me that it is only real signups, I'll pay him even for those that I have refond, but if he will not call me in 48 hours then you got his info

                                                          We catch Webmaster fraud every week on AdultPlatinum, but we have some pretty iron-clad detection.

                                                          Nuke the account and refund the trans, you can also ask your processor if the trans look suspicious on their end.

                                                                  great signup rates are not always fraud. Certain types of sites (such as review sites) can generate very little traffic click-thru but near 80% signup because it is very highly targeted. Of course those numbers sound crazy, but I can imagine 1:10-1:30 not necessarily fraud...

                                                                      If the IP's are all the same as you said, then definitely fraud is happening. Otherwise, don't jump the gun so fast. For a lot of sponsors I host their tours and as such they'll see something like 20 signups and 0 hits. Doesn't necessarily mean it's fraud. But in your case since the IP's are all the same, it looks that way.

                                                                          ya i wouldn't jump the gun. find out what you can first. but with 15 sign ups from one ip, something fishy is going on. wonder what his excuse will be?

                                                                              I'm 100% sure it is a faud,
                                                                              1. The 20 signups came in a period of 30 min, and stoped.
                                                                              2. Out of them 15 had the same IP .
                                                                              3. The Url that the WM registerd in our program has no banners of ours.
                                                                              4. he is from Romania.

                                                                                  I always thought that ppl who cheat do this, because they are to stupid to earn money in the honest way.
                                                                                  But apparently some ppl are to stupid to cheat, too.
                                                                                  If I was going to cheat, I would send some traffic that usually converts at 1:500, but make fraudulent sign ups every 100 hits, so that I'd get a ratio of 1:100. That would be muich harder to detect I believe.
                                                                                  ( myabe I shouldn't post it here, since some webmasters may make use of the advice... )

                                                                                                              We often do 1:10 - 1:20 with all our sponsors with very highly targetted PPC traffic. We have had our accounts put on hold a few times and once we've been investigated they are happy again. No problems.

What if a large webmaster was doing amazing for sponsor A. Sponsor A doesn't want them to leave so they announce to the other sponsors the webmaster is a cheater. No other programs would accept that webmaster and sponsor A is really happy about that.

                                                                                                                          Sponsors want to keep their whales as much as possible that this scenario would not surprise me. I would do it if I were in their shoes.
