Wonder where ALLL that info goes that comes from the retailer scanning that lil UPC code? ;-) The manufacturer knows when that monitor was sold. Try to go at them with a lie and you won't get a thing.
Look in to having it repaired first along with
calling the manufacturer and talking to a supervisor in their Customer Service. You might be surprised how they treat you if you lavish praise on and at the same time plug the dismay over the failures. You could very well end up with a new monitor.
Also, microcenter has refurb'd 17's on sale this week-month... 49.99 after a $40 rebate. ;-)
