You must have it configured wrong then. I am running a Linksys BEFW11S4 (10/100 4 port + router + wifi) and it works like a charm. Smoking fast even with the 2 or 3 computers hard-wired and a laptop on wi-fi.
I would recommend you go with any standard linksys router and make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware and then go to
http://www.broadbandreports.com and go through the speedtests and tweak tests to make sure you are optimally configured.
