Taking a moment to vent...

Ok, so last Wednesday, while everyone else was depositing their CCBill checks with glee...I was wondering where mine was. I called CCBill Friday and got a machine, so I called back today. They say they SENT a check out, but it may have gotten lost in the mail, so I asked if they could put a stop payment on it and add it to THIS weeks check. They let me know that I have to wait TEN BUSINESS DAYS before they will even look in to it, THEN they can start the process of putting a stop-payment on it and issuing me a new one. GAH! I am already behind on my hosting bill by a month...or... more because I had gotten shorted for $2000 by You-Know-Who in January! GAH! Am I NEVER going to catch up completely?! I am so depressed over this! Every time I THINK I am catching up, another 'surprise' pops up for me!

Oh, and my DISHWASHER broke today, too! Estimated repair time? TEN BUSINESS DAYS! ARGH! WTF is with "ten business days"?!

One of the reasons that we put that policy in place is because we discovered that in many cases when a check didn't arrive at the clients mailing address on the ?normal? day, it were just delayed a few days or got sent back to us.

Most checks get to the clients; sometimes they get delayed for a bit. We found that in a lot of cases, we would stop payment on the check, only to have the customer call the next day and tell us that they had gotten the check and to remove the stop payment, which by that it time was too late

It is actually my policy, but it is not set in stone

If this is you, and not your webmaster . . . first, sorry you are stressed out.

I've seen you post here before but this is the first time I looked at your site - you're attractive. If you've been on the internet with your own site that long, you should be worried about retirement by now, not worried about a monthly hosting bill. Unless of course you've had some sort of financial problems in the past

What I mean to say is that you should be very wealthy by now.

I suspect that it is a mix of both not enough traffic and some problems with your tour, but something is wrong. If you'd like some suggestions let me know and I'll shoot you an email

Some friendly advice:

Consider getting a redesign done for your front page and tour. Personally, I find that sort of dark color scheme and fuzzy button work unappealing. It looks slightly unfriendly, really, which is one thing a personal site shouldn't be

Also, don't open popups on people until they've closed your site. If someone clicks to take your tour, you should leave them in peace until they try to leave the site.

I feel like I am SO stuck in the past, like i have not stayed current. As soon as I finish this project (or call it quits for the night), they will be history again.

I hate them too, they have made me stop going thru my own site and start typing in the EXACT URL that I want.

If it's got you avoiding your own pages, it's bad.

You can keep a popup or two, but you should only have them hit people who are leaving the site. So, any link that goes to another page on your site should not open a popup. It's pretty easy to do. I, or a lot of other people here, can help you out with that if you're not familiar with hahahahahahahahahaha,

I have 4 Parkes prints...he taught at Pensacola JR College in the '70's...I went there in the '90's. That article deosn't actually reveal too much. Obviously, it was written during the middle of an ongoing ivestigation so it's not a "tell-all" sort of article.

The obscenity charges were the tough ones, but you're incorrect if you think it'll never happen to you . . . unless you aren't in the adult business. All of our content was in our member area, and none of it was anything other than "normal" hardcore stuff . . . plus a lot of our content wsan't even hardcore.

edit - the CHANCES that it will happen to you, at least so far if they don't step up prosecutons, is minute. But not out of the realm of possibility

Kayla - things WILL get better!

A few notes on your site (although this is kinda moot since Todd is going to redesign things for ya) - I like the rotating pics on the second page. I agree with the fuzzy buttons - they're hard to read and distracting.
Traffic leaks! The biggest thing I see about amateur sites is that they become an online amateur before they become an adult webmaster - and by doing so, they fall into the "common thought" trap that in order to be successful you have to have traffic leaking recips all over your tour. Not so! (You're also leaking hard-earned traffic that your affiliates are sending to you.)
Make mirrors of your pages and put the recips on *those* instead.

The idea behind this - you have worked hard for your traffic (or your affiliate has worked hard to send you traffic). The surfer coming to your front page is there because he is interested in YOU specifically - do NOT give him the choice of seeing some other amateur - or in the case of a search engine newbie porn surfer, even *knowing* that other amateurs exist!
You want their ONLY choices to be to continue going through your site and signup, or leave. Don't leak them away on the cool-looking "ASS Approved" button or any of the other typical amateur leaks.
These recips STEAL your traffic!

Make a mirror of your site in another folder, and use IT for all of the recips. Anyone coming *from* one of these recips already knows that there are other amateurs out there and he is browsing the buffet table to find one he likes. If he hits your site and you're not the type of girl he's looking for tonight, then he will actually LOOK for those recips to go back into the menu and try to find another girl... in which case you can trade him for another surfer who might come to check you out and fall in love.

If a surfer comes straight to your site, grab him by the balls and don't let go. Give him no choice but to focus on YOU - not some cool-looking graphics that promise hundreds of amateurs to choose from.
You're running a paysite, not a free traffic pump. If you must, pop a recip page on the surfer *after* he has decided not to join your site and not accepted your last-chance offer - but ONLY after he's absolutely certain he's leaving!
Be fair to yourself and fair to your affiliates - make a clean tour.

A few notes on your site (although this is kinda moot since Todd is going to redesign things for ya) - I like the rotating pics on the second page. I agree with the fuzzy buttons - they're hard to read and distracting.
Traffic leaks! The biggest thing I see about amateur sites is that they become an online amateur before they become an adult webmaster - and by doing so, they fall into the "common thought" trap that in order to be successful you have to have traffic leaking recips all over your tour. Not so! (You're also leaking hard-earned traffic that your affiliates are sending to you.)

The idea behind this - you have worked hard for your traffic (or your affiliate has worked hard to send you traffic). The surfer coming to your front page is there because he is interested in YOU specifically - do NOT give him the choice of seeing some other amateur - or in the case of a search engine newbie porn surfer, even *knowing* that other amateurs exist!
You want their ONLY choices to be to continue going through your site and signup, or leave. Don't leak them away on the cool-looking "ASS Approved" button or any of the other typical amateur leaks.
