Do you sign up under anyone?

When signing up for a sponsor you saw in a sig or banner, do you actually give that person a referal or be a bitch and go directly to the sponsor?
and anyone here make more off referals than signups? I suppose if you sign up 2 or 3 people who send mad signups, you'd get more than if you'd send a few signups?

yes I do click on certain peoples sigs who I consider intelligent people I chat with on ICQ...I am very leary about new programs that I send my traffic to...which is why I ask around before throwing traffic somewhere

I join under anyone who offers help or offers good and detailed information about the program. When I ask questions about sponsors or whatever and people spam their link, I never join. I want details.

I wish I didn't refer so many damn slackers...

I've got about 50 referrals to a certain sponsor, and not one of my referrals has ever even made one sale... and I was converting 1:200 with them off of TGP galleries...

Also got about 6 or 7 referrals to another sponsor I started promoting recently... same story there.. my referrals suck.

Hopefully some day I will refer someone with at least half a brain to a couple good affiliate programs..

I have hundreds of referrals and only a very small portion actually do any sales at all and a small part of that do anything substantial.

About signing up under someones elses code..

Any email that says, "your gallery was rejected" and "check out this sponsor" in the same email, gets no referral.

Any tgp that has rude assed rules, gets no referrals

Any site that rarely lists my sites or galleries, gets no referrals

Come to think of it, I rarely sign up under anyone.

If at the time of signing up, I get there through someone's sig or text link, then I will sign up below them. I normially won't go and look for ref codes for a sponsor otherwise though.

I think a lot of webmasters signup for programs just to do RECON on the competition.

Then there are the ones that just want to signup for every program out there but never do much biz with any single one of them.

Every now and then though you'll get a decent guy who you've helped and he reciprocates with a good amount of biz under your referral. And it is very appreciated when that happens, since its free money.

Yap, I've signed up under plenty of people for various programs, and have referred in quite a few as well.

But the % of refered people who have a "$0.00" beside their name at the end of every pay period is frighteningly high. It really IS strange that you do well with a sponsor yet only 2 or 3 out of several dozen referred WM's do anything at all with it.

Too bad most sponsor stats don't have a way for us to contact our referred people, because I've often wanted to try and help them do better.
