When Did GFY Turn Into #GFYWarez?

this looks bad on everybody in this industry to have the most active board turning into a warez board. If there weren't content providers posting regularly I bet they'd start posting and trading content.

anybody who bitches about programs who shave and is a warez user you are a hypocrite. Once you're making $$$ in this business you are no longer Joe Surfer who likes to make wallpapers with a cracked version of Photoshop.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

I second this notion ive seen alot of warez posts lately.. its quite discerning I mean these programmers spend alot of time and money programming this software the least you can do is buy it expecially if your making 50-100k or more a year from the use of it..

once again just my take it or leave it.

well im definately not promoting warez... but i had a strong interest in computers ever since i was 12 / 13.. and i started off programming in VB.. and then got into graphics.... my parents never gave me money and i was obviously too young to work.. so i d/led the programs, and i got pretty damn good with them.. so w/ warez i didn't have to waste time at a college...

i dunno, i guess thats one of the few advantages of it atleast. heh.

i made the point that there is a difference between kids and non business people using warez for their own enjoyment and education - strictly speaking it ain't right either but i think it works out well for the software companies like Adobe - my point is when you have an income over $50,000 a year, you should pay for the software that helps you make that income. You are a thief at this point. This just isn't in the online world, I can show you mainstream office after office running on bootleg software and multiple copies of one software package.

When i started out I had cracked Photoshop4, GifAnimator2, Illustrator, CuteFTP, ThumbsPlus, etc etc - now years later I only have registered Photoshop6, CuteFTP and Swish. That's all i have. I will buy Illustrator soon and FlashMX if I think i wanna give Flash another shot.

I have friends with hard drives full of every program imagineable that they offer to me. That's my moral line in the sand, if i make money off the software, I should buy it. If i'm messing around with it to learn or for fun - I'm not going to feel guilty about using
          a warez version.

Well said. I have bought one FTP program 5 fucking times because I formatted hard drives or lost the info. For a measly $30 who cares. That is their business just like the peoples here is content, paysites, tgp, or whatever. A non commercial user grabbing some prog to check out isn't the same as a business using stolen items to make money.

Please point me in the direction of this magical software that allows me to make $50,000 a year, and I will gladly pay whatever you ask.

I try before I buy... especially with software since the bitches at the store will never take software back when I try to return it unless it hasn't even been opened.
In a way.. the company actually finds a potential customer by letting us get our ahold of a free copy of something.

Kinda reminds me about all these password sites I see people complaining about... I think it's easily possible to pull alot of sales by circulating temporary or fake passwords to your pay site.. your pay site should be protected against those type of things anyway.. if they aren't its your fault.

No ripped movies, about 20 mp3 files.

difference is - I'm not going using them for profit of any kind. there is a difference.

how much did u agree to pay Acacia DomainGirls? That was you referred to in the AVNOnline story no?

a webmaster who doesn't protect his site from password crackers is stupid but to say they deserve it or whatever is ridiculous. There is no software to stop the brute force attacks, Pennywize works after a successful attack to block access for the 'found' passwords, brute force attacks slow a server down for the paying members hurting your business.

Is your point that if there is a way to defend yourself against crime, no matter how expensive that defense is, the victim of the crime is to blame?

People should lock their doors but those who don't don't deserve to have some thief walk in an walk away with the TV set or to be hit over the head with a blunt object or raped.

Software companies have huge margins. I don't feel sorry for these guys that lose some of their profits to warez. No compassion for the music / movie biz either.

Adult webmasters usually have huge margins also. As for the music biz yes the record companies make a killing on record sales. But what about the artists that are already raped by the industry and raped again from freeloaders that can't shell out $15 for a form of entertainment that lasts much longer than a trip to the movies or the price of a meal.

You want to know why businesses buy one piece of software and use it on mutliple machines?? Or use bootleg software?? Cause the damn Software companies want $1000's and $1000's for licences for each damn computer in the office.

I purchased all of my businesses software and yes I am guilty of using some of it on multiple machines, they make you rebuy the software at almost full retail just to upgrade from adobe 5-6 then 6-7 I mean screw doing that on 5 machines. If the software was more reasonably priced there would not be such a need for bootleg software.

Funny, last time I looked you could sell your products at whatever price you wanted. If you want a program bad enough to use it on 5 or 6 machines pay the price for it or don't use it.

I think it's obvious that this place has been a bunch of thieves from the beginning ...

                                            And you're surprized?

This place is nothing but a bunch of hackers, really.

If it reflects poorly on the industry well ... what else is new?

Quite frankly, after meeting a bunch of people in the industry ...
the bad repuation is well deserved.

And, the fact is, most people in this industry don't give a shit.

The fact that the admins here do monitor the board, and close threads, ban people, etc. is proof that they could do so in the case of illegal activity. That means they could be held liable for the crimes committed on the board.

To be honest, I really DO NOT give a fuck. If someone wants to steal software, that's their business, and their problem. It means about as much to me as someone wanting to steal a ho-ho from the Quickie Mart.

But if you want software from a small US company, and the fuckin thing is just $40... do your little bit to support the fuckin economy and buy the goddamn thing. If you need it that bad, it's worth the money.

                                                              Ouch.

I'm just gonna hop the fence one night and grab everything that I don't have on mine. My wife wants one too so I'll just grab an extra while I'm there.
