Unless [Labret]'s gonna "back shit up"; If not eloquently, I think I've made my point nonetheless.
The only point you have made is that you are just another jealour pathetic, newbie

I hope you are referring to you and not me??? If you are referring to me, ......well you have no clue, (and most likely never will) what I do, or make. I'll agree Labrets stats look nice, but I'm very used to looking at stats just like those

he was making fun of your spelling. you wrote "jealour".

As I recall, Rat did post a url to one of his sites a while back. Don't recall the url, but I vaguely remember the discussion. I believe it was gay related.
And there's a lot of people that wouldn't mind being "in the same boat as Quiet."
(I assume you were speaking of a business standpoint)

quiet made a post a while back stating how when someone first revealed his sites, they were hit but several attacks and his bandwith consumption increased significantly.
There are very few people on this board that I actually look up to, and that know more about the gay market than I.
Labret is one of em'. =)
How he conducts his business is noone elses business, he doesn't start being defensive or offensive regarding stats or income, until someone gets in his fucking face.
And I agree with him regarding the affiliate program, if I had as much targetted gay traffic as him, I'd probably keep opening up my own sites, and focus on recurring...
But... I don't, so keep tuned for one of the tightest gay affiliate programs on the net, coming to you in the next few months...
Neither this thread or it's antagonist is worth your time. You're so out of the league of your critics it's absurd. The big question is are you going to order breakfast or lunch tomorrow at noon?

This whole thread would not have existed had the newbie bashing thread not gone the way it did. For the record, Rat offered up a certain point of view, after which I made a valid counterpoint. Among several other inflammatory comments, Rat then rebutted my post with the "Dear dickhead" one you all see quoted at the top of this thread (pg 1).
Not a big deal from where I sit. There was no need really to have people start comparing stats, incomes, or dick sizes.
Sometimes, trying to get out a simple point on this board is.... exasperating. Or is it exascerbating. Not sure..... I shall research both.

sorry, I am in no way knocking the individual efforts of guys like Rat or quiet. They are exceptional cases, no doubt. But the sheer mathematics of an affiliate program speaks for itself. A company with 1,000 affiliates..... a few of which send 20-50 signups a day, a few hundred that send 5-20 a day, and a few hundred more that send 1-5 a day, well.... do I really have to calculate the "fallacy" this is based on?
it is the difference between $2 mil a year and $10 mil.
Perhaps I wasn't clear in the point I was making. I'm not saying that affiliate driven program aren't big. I would even go so far as to say that most of the top companies in this industry are mainly affiliate driven. However the "gazillion" other affiliate programs are not big. How many affiliate programs have 1000 active affiliates? The CE's, ARS's and MaxCash's are the exception not the rule.
The fallacy is that you seem to assume that how well known a company is, can be taken as a meausre of its size. Affiliate driven companies have a reason to be well known. Non affiliate driven companies have a reason to be unknown (atleast in these circles). The amount of exposure a company has at conferences and on webmaster boards has very little to do with their size.
You say that an affiliate program is the difference between $2 million and $10 million per year. However, you don't need to have an affiliate program to make well over $10 million a year.

there is like any industry - a small group of people make most of the money. it's not a function of affiliate - it's a function of BUSINESS.
even within affiliate programs, including the largest ones, if you take away their 10 or 20 largest income producers they would loose more than 1/2 of their revenue.

Wrong, that's not even close to what I was saying.
As I've said, the whole discussion stems from the newbie thread about "porn is a dying industry" or something. If you haven't yet read it, well, you might want to for reference sake.
And any non-affiliate program can be that much bigger by adding an affiliate program to itself. I'm sure some aardvark will jump in and disagree with this, and I will just as quickly roll my eyes at them. Whatever.....
Eg: The paysites in a private network might get.... let's say 50k uniques per day, and since it is all quality controlled they see what?.... a 1:250 ratio let's say. So they are doing well, yes? Add an affiliate program, promote it, and give it time to grow and guess what? That 50k per day grows to 500k per day. Maybe the ratio goes up some, but again, so what? The income doubles, triples, or more.
However, the reverse is not true. At least not from what I can tell. You can add an affiliate program to a non-affiliate company and grow it's income larger, which brings home my true point...... other webmasters, promoters, and yes... NEWBS, can have a great worth in this industry. Labrat says newbs are scum, I say otherwise. THAT is the central point here. Sure, many newbs are useless and counterproductive, but you can say that about a certain percentage of any level of this business
I never said the private paysite networks don't exist or that some of them aren't big. But add an affiliate program to any one of them and they will become that much bigger. That's all. No criticism meant to Rat or anyone else.

its hard to say what kind of an affect newbs will have on a program. look at oxcash, they were doing great when they limited the number of webmasters. if they can keep ratios nice and low and keep the whales happy they may end up making more money while keeping costs down. less webmasters to deal with, lower bandwidth costs, etc. then they let everyone in and ratios take a jump and the whales will start to send traffic elsewhere. can the noobs make up for the loss of the whales?

Well, although this is a valid point... it is a bit beside the point I was trying to put forth.
But in some cases yes, you're right. Everything has to have balances. Cheques and balances :D
A huge influx of newbs can saturate one's program in certain ways. The "whales" like to have room to promote, definitely. I don't blame them. I had some room to maneuver when promoting oxcash last year, for a while anyway, as was sending 90 to 100 signups a month for a while. I'm still seeing rebills from that time, but that sort of situation (oxcash being "oversaturated") doesn't happen often. For every 1000 newbies showing up in the industry there are 10 new sponsor programs popping up for them to promote.
