    The message:

    Hi.
I am writing this short letter to you because I saw a reference to candidhosting on your website. I want to give you this warning about these porn sleaze scumbags.

[EDIT: I have nothing good, nor bad about candidhosting anywhere. They're listed no where on any site i have.]

I called Russell Bruno about renting servers. I paid for four servers in advance . They took my money and did not provide the services paid for. THE SCAM;;;;; -> They are intentionally telling people they can host "anything" including the sending of mail. They then just take your money and shut the services within a few days. I tried to contact them to no avail.. This is a definite pattern and modus operandi. I was warned about this company and about Russell Bruno, sales manager, (too late) by others who had the same experience.. I hope this warning reaches you in time and I hope by this mail a few unsuspecting people are not victims of this scam like I was.
    Thank You
    Bill

I've never heard anything bad about candidhosting other than this email, so i would think that canadid hosting is pretty good.

I'm sure if they were doing what this guy has said then there would be much much more complaints about them

they are pretty good, but have serious problem with backups. Candidhosting does not have automated back up system, and they are able to do your back ups only using manpower, what will cost you up to $200 per server for daily backup(as I was told by my sales rep). Not big deal, but if you compare it to others who makes backups for free you feel a little pissed off.

on my candid emails i use my local isp's outgoing mail server. i can't send mail through their servers for some reason, i always thought it was weird because every other host i was with i could send through their servers no problem.

candid is a solid host. i would be very skeptical about that email. the guys an anon with a yahoo addy.

The IP of the web site in your profile is 64.159.89.124 - according to SPEWS this is listed:

                      http://www.spews.org/html/S339.html

However, I can't find your specific IP on that page, nor a blanket 64.159.89.* block. (?)

You may also want to browse:

                      http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...osting+%2Bspam

Note that I am not making any comment either way, they could be a great host and may have just had some abuse issues that were not handled very well. However, if you plan to send out emails then this is probably not the host for you.

They seem to host at least one of the biggest yahoo chat spammers for several months.

some ISPs make you use their servers for SMTP, for example, Canada's Sympatico does.

Colateral damage. If your IP (or web host) is listed in SPEWS or other similar block lists, your server will not be able to send email to any ISP that uses them - the mail will bounce. One of my servers is listed in SPEWS because (1) the host I'm on has a long history of spamming, and (2) someone sent out a large spam run which linked to some of my URLs. It was nothing to do with me - I never did find out who did it, or why.

In your case, perhaps it's a policy decision by candid. If you block ALL outbound email from client servers then that also includes spam.

Some hosting providers won't allow SMTP on their boxes. No biggy really. Also some ISP's, Earthlink I think is one, won't let an account use an out of network SMTP like port 25.
I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.

I would imagine they don't allow using their outbound mail server for authentication issues, this is a common setup...

SPEWS sucks as well. A bunch of pansy ass crybabies hiding behind a bogus domain name registration.
