Too bad none of his family or numerous former friends thought so and let him lay dead and stinking for two weeks. "Where's Lane?" "Who cares? He ain't here!" His self indulgence at the expense of everything around him pissed off a lot of people and he was a pariah when he died. Sad waste of talent.Originally posted by MuleScrote
I think Layne Staley was another great loss...Unvaxxed, still alive.Comment

take a look at who was on the charts when Nirvana broke out and how they made a huge impact on the direction of rock at the time. Look at how revered Nevermind is amongst critics and fans (its always now considered one of the top 5 albums of all times in most polls). Their live MTV Unplugged album still blows me away.Comment

they created a whole new genre and blew everything away... in a matter of weeks, whatever was top became old and unwanted... in matter of weeks, they changed what was considered to be good musique...
that's what I call making an impact ;)

they didn't create it...they were just the first ones to really break through.....before them were Tad, Mudhoney, Meat Puppets, etc.Originally posted by magnatique

Behind every "breakthrough" artist, there are usually at least 5 or 6 groups who had been doing it in the underground for years. All the breakthrough artist (Nirvana included) usually does is takes that style and pops it up a bit... makes it more digestable to the mainstream... waters it down so the kids can enjoy it.
Nothing against Nirvana, but they were hardly pioneers. They were just the first to sell out.Comment
