Spamcop must be one of the the biggest piles of shit in existence. As a person who runs a rather large network I have blocked all the traffic from them, including mail for the following reasons:spamcop
- their automated system spams admins with spam reports that did not pass any real validation. The same issue gets reported over and over again.
- they tend to block addresses outside the scope of the spamming network (if spam originates from one IP address it does not mean that that whole freaking class C is spamming)
- they are impossible to deal with and tend to keep your block of IPs in the blacklist for days even after the issue is resolved

I had the same email address for eight years. I pretty much kept it private, but that last year I was flooded with spam email. One rather offensive spam came about girls & farm animals came in at least four times every day. I contacted the site but got nothing. I contacted the bililng company in some former Soviet Block country and they replied that there was nothing they could do.
Bullshit.
So I created a new email address on my server for me to use, and forward everything at the old address to the customer support center email address. Fuck them.Herschel Savage

and one other small thing.. don't make a attack on the originating ip like you suggested... you'll just burn your own bandwidth and get yourself in trouble.
The chances are it's just a blind relay, or a proxy. And even if they were sending from their own server direct, I would suggest that their bandwidth would be savage, and regardless who won the battle, the only one to get their account canned would be yours.
I realise you said it in gest and disgust, I'm just hoping you didn't give any ideas to newbies with their first "entry level server"
