              Hours after she slipped out the door, her mother found her lying face down in the snow-covered backyard, wearing only her diaper and a pink T-shirt.
              Ok, I'm missing something. How does a mother not notice that their kid has been gone for hours. More so since it's a toddler.

              Or if it was with a sitter, why didnt he/she notice the kid was missing

                  The statement of claim says Erika, then one year old, was staying with her mother, Leyla, at the home of a friend. At around 1 a.m. on Feb. 24, 2001, the girl woke up and became disoriented.
