I'm white, my grandfather was white, and he refused to even get to know me because he never 'accepted' my father's choice in women. Mom happened to be from the wrong side of the blvd and her family was not in the society 'blue book' as was my father's - he was a racist snob from hell...
I met him twice in my life, once as a kid that I don't remember, another time right before I went in the USAF...
all I can offer is this...
1) you can choose to hold onto the pain, or let it go...
and
2) if you choose to keep the pain you can also choose to do great things with that pain....pain is a bitchen motivator...today I look at as a gift...but that is 'my' choice...
still, a very fucked up thing to say and sorry to hear that your kid had to deal with that, it sucks for sure :/
do the right thing, and explain it as best you can...kids are AMAZINGLY brighter than what most adults give them credit for...
