How many of you have kids?

I need to vent, I need to calm down. So, here is the deal.

My XBOX is up on top of my entertainment center away from the kids, so they can't get near it. My wife, placed her cup of tea next to it this morning.

My 5 year old, wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. She pushed the cup of tea in to the XBOX, knocking the thing off of my entertainment center, and on the ground. Well, you would have thought the loud resounding crash of daddies favorite toy would make her stop and wonder, but no, she keeps on pushing the box, and knocks the cup of tea, onto my subwoofer, immediately destroying it as well.

So all in all, not a bad day of destruction for the kids, Im out over $400 in electronics. Daddy didn't blow a gasket, which amazes me.

I have walked away, and am sitting in my office, cooling down, typing this letter.

Oh Well. If you needed any form of birth control, this letter might help

I feel for you, I really do.
I have three kids *2 boys and one girl ages 2-5yrs. old* I've come to learn that if you have ANYTHING of value HIDE IT !!!

Seriously though we've got some nice stuff we don't want messed up so we keep an eye on the kids @ all times. Mistakes happen all the time so there's really nothing you can do about it...as upsetting as that may be.

When you have kids you learn to lose valuable things once in a while.

Then they grow up and move away ;)

Yeah, it amazed me, I just casually picked up the XBOX, turned it on, heard the grinding of crap on the inside, saw the sparks from the sub, as it wouldn't make any sound whatsoever, and simply left the room......

Now if it would have been 23 years earlier, my father would have tanned my ass with his belt. Amazing what enough belt beatings do to someone and their resolve to never unleash hell like that on their kids.

My father used to take off his belt and tan my ass..not pleasant all all. My hubby and I have never nor will we ever tan our kids with a belt.....LOL There's many times we wants to *trust me* but I remember what it was like and I just couln't bring myself to do that to them.

Kids will be kids and we all make mistakes. I knwo this isn't what you want to hear but think of it this way, nothing *serious* broke. You know what I mean? Everything we buy can be replaced.

I'm lucky I guess... I have a mild mannered girl. She poses her share of difficulties, but compared to the stories I hear from other parents, I guess I have it pretty easy.

My son was 5 last month, I also mind my friends 2 boys (5 and 7) so she can get back to work, so far this year they have destroyed my webcam, zip drive, sons bed, upstairs toilet , pulled one of the shed doors off, 2 bikes, countless toys and that's just off the top off my head so far this year

Damn, I have so many kids I don't even know about... everytime I pass a school playground I just throw a bunch of change over the fence now to help take care of 'em

I have a 1 year old son and he's already destroying the house. I don't mind putting everything of value way up high where he can't get it but my wife won't learn. He pushes the buttons on my Xbox and computers, turns the tv and radios on and off and breaks anything he can get. Ugh!

It's all worth it though.

You should be grateful that the hot cup of tea didn't spill on your child's face and burn them. Some piece of electronics is not worth your having friction with your blood, just imho. Soon enough they grow up and they could be your life-long friends. There is no closer and more trusted friend than your children.

Also Kudos for resisting the beating, I know I've felt the tempation many times with my 2 kids, but I always remember my dad's hand on my face (only 5 or so times), was like a hammer everytime though..

For me it's the other way around. My hubby leaves everything out for the kids to get
"Kelly pick up you smokes and bring your glasses to the kitchen"...*I have to repeat this same sentence to him at least 3 more times over an hr. period*eventually..

lol, that's just this year, at least he gets to go out to his dads farm and run some serious energy off a couple of times a week! when he was little he would bang his head hard against anything hard, so at least now he's not damaging himself.

yeah we have that problem with my nephew...he likes to open doors now..and he has been putting his toys in the toilet..so needless to say we got a new toilet.....and he is only 22 months....little hellian..lol...although cute

4 kids, they havent gotten my xbox yet, but they've gone through 1 gamnecube, 2 PS2's a few older game systems, 3 TV's, couple computers, 6 toilets, countless dvd's and a bunch of stuff i didnt care enough about to remember

I've got two kids, boy 3 and girl 7. In our old house I had a 50 gallon fish tank set up. My son decided he was going to test out what household items float.

Needless to say in the new house I haven't set up the fish tank and our TV converters, electric razors, lighters, jewellery etc. have been high and dry.

Well, believe it or not, my 2 year old son is the true destroyer, I was amazed at the fact it was my daughter.

The one thing is, it wasn't hot tea, the wife left it there this morning, so this afternoon, it was cold.

yeah, I love my kids and we have a tight bond, and after the thrashings I took when I was a kid, I have the utmost patience with my kids, I never want to be like my father was to my to them.

After the divorce, everything changed for the better on both sides.

Whew, 12!! Now that has to be a hard one to grin and bear it, actually, that whole list you had, has to be a hard one.

Food and drink stay in the kitchen and dining areas in our house - period. This was a long, slow learning process for me. It took a few electronics, sofas, nice rugs, custom chairs, pillows and tables for that to sink through, but trust me - learn it now and it will save you $$$$ in the long run.

I think kids need a good beat down everyonce in a while. My parents beat the crap out of me as a child, and I'm kinda lookin' forward to beatin' up on my kids a little, to kinda take it out on them for when my parents beat me.

Yah americans... I think that is better to teach kids that destroying items & buying new is bad (of course if you don`t like to buy everytime new things if something is crashed and your kids are so big to understand what you say to them). That is good lesson for life - I wasn`t destroying too much when I was kid (also my brother & sister) and that doesn`t mean that we don`t had a prosperity - my mother was always teaching us that`s better to pay attention what you are doing and keep items in good state than buy everytime a new stuff. And that whole praising how much your children destroyed is stupid.

Maybe someone smart understand what I write.

That's funny as hell. My boy is 3 and he uses the VCR and dvd player fine, and hasn't hurt either one...(yet?)
