Even if they are able to shut down all the porn for profit sites in the US, the problem will get WORSE, not better. As it stands, a large majority of traffic is controlled by the big companies trying to follow the law. the US governmet can always try to convince Master card & Visa to stop processing porn at all. Certainly the CC companies make money by processing porn, but they also make ( made? ) money by processing casino but now there are big problems with it I believe.

You could never kill porn. It simply isn't possible. MP3 are illegal but EVERYONE trades them. Same thing for porn, you can't stop this kind of movement. BTW how is the drug war going? Ha. That's what I thought, there are some fights even the US can't win. (God bless america and their high conversion ratio for canadian dollars)

completetosser - Exactly. You mention Google, but Yahoo might be the largest porn site anywhere - they actually host the material.

polish aristocrat - I think you misunderstood my point. There will be more FREE porn. I'm saying it's in the US government's best interests to continue to allow legal pornography sites online. THAT is the point that the online porn industry needs to be "lobbying".
