VISA Goes Full Force Against High Risk!!

This is sort of old news but now the mainstream media is picking up on Visa's stance. Visa can never back down now on high risk and if anything they will get harsher and harsher! Look out!!

ABC News: Visa Draws Hard Line

First few paragraphs:

......But now, Visa has taken an unpublicized stance on where it doesn't want to be: on Internet sites selling child pornography and other dhahahahations of sexually deviant behavior.
Over the past year, Visa has set up a system to identify purveyors who use Visa to sell illegal pornography. This means the card issuer is reporting sites with illegal photos and videos to the global police forces responsible for enforcing child-porn laws.

Visa is also requiring the 7,000 U.S. financial institutions that are members of the Visa association to register "high-risk merchants" who process adult content and use the Visa card. If the institutions don't comply, they risk losing their Visa relationship ? a threat already facing a Russian bank......

Indeed thats fantastic news epecially the bit about the 'deviant behavior' part this means that Visa realizes things such as CP and beastiality are not fetishes per say. In other words, things that ARE predominent in the fetish market, watersports, BDSM etc shouldnt have any problems.

i'm not sure i agree w/ you here that this is such good news really, while i'm all for VISA coming down like a hammer on the purveyors of CP, i don't know if VISA themselves deciding what constitutes deviant behavior is really that great an idea... w/ the current administration, eating freshly-fucked ass (felching) could become so-called *deviant* behavior, among many other things that a lot of people here push to make their money, and that just ain't good for anyone..!

I wish I could agree with your interpretation, but I can't. It specifically says "child pornography and other deviant behavior" not "child porn and beastiality" or "child porn and other illegal behaviors"

So what it means is that they are not just going after child porn but anything else they consider "deviant" which could be anything. Since I sell mostly BDSM stuff, this makes me very nervous.

I agree. Whenever a private company, with close associations to government and the current administration, starts to dictate content then that is bad news. Of course everyone here is in favor of eliminating child porn (I hope!) but there is a ton of grey-area content that could be considered illegal in many states (like Oklahoma). Will Visa choose the lowest common demoninator when making their decisions? Will they go by more liberal California law? Will they randomly pick and choose according to the whims of whoever is on their legal staff at that time? Will they listen to (ugh!) politicians when forming their policies?

Only time will tell....

Deviant AND Fetish are NOT the same thing.

A sexual Deviant is not the same as a Sexual Fetish.

Lee - We all want CP gone, but "deviant" is way too broad for my liking. Sex is considered deviant to some. Hell, in Oklahoma they pulled Cosmo magazines out of the grocery stores because they were afraid kids would see them and DEVELOP deviant behaviours . . . like sex
