    Superman: The Last Son of Krypton

    Anyone have any info on when this movie is coming out?
    Any trailers online yet?

    I read in a magazine that Anthony Hopkins will play Superman's father in this one, but haven't heard anything else.

              Yeah, the director was on the late night show with Carson Daily the other night, and hopkins will be that father, and Hanks will be Superman.

              I also heard the Alias girl will be one of the gals, but she wont be Lois Lane. They were looking at the girl from smallville for that.

                                      I heard Swazie gained 40 pounds for the role.
                                      Kiind of like what Stallone did for CopLand.

                                      Also I heard hanks has lost MAJOR weight.

                                      They wanted to give him more of a swimmers or track star body rather than a bulked up muscle body.

                                                      I was working on Species 2 when they cast Nic Cage as Superman several years ago. I didn't work on the suit, but a full body suit was made for Cage to be all musceled up.

                                                                  Before everyone goes getting all over Tom Hanks' shit (although the idea does a little seem strange to me too), anyone remember when the 1st Batman movie was cast?

                                                                  Is was going to be this great 'new' look at the Batman character, with an awesome director (Tim Burton), Jack Nicholson as the Joker, then they announce who was cast as Batman....... Michael Keaton?!?!?!??!

                                                                  I remember saying,

                                                                  "WHAT?!?!? Mr. Fucking Mom as Batman?????"

                                                                  But in the end I think that Keaton did a great job with the character than another 'more serious' actor may not have been able to pull off.....

                                                                  Anyway -- I'm not saying that Hanks is the best or most obvious choice for the role, or even that the movie will be worth a shit.....
                                                                  Just saying that sometimes actors can suprise you with what kind of roles they can pull off.....

                                                                                  Hate to tell you guys this but right now the future for the new Superman movie does not look so bright. AOL/TimeWarner owns DC Comics who owns Superman, Batman, WonderWoman, etc.. AOL/TimeWarner is in the middle of a huge crisis and are losing money faster than they can count. They are wanting to make a movie that will make money, even if they have to sacrifice little things like story and history.
                                                                                  Brett Ratner (director of Red Dragon, Rush Hour) is currently the man in the director's chair but he supposedly left the project last week. He had several actors do screen tests including Jude Law, Brendan Fraser, Ashton Kutcher, and Josh Hartnett. Josh Hartnett was offered the role but declined because they wanted him to sign a 3 film contract and he did not want to. Remember that in the last 2 years Tim Burton, McG (Charlies Angels director), and Michael Bay have all been announced as directors only to leave soon after. The suits at AOL/TimeWarner are trying to micromanage the project as well as the Batman films which are even worse off than the Superman films.
                                                                                  On the otherhand in the last couple years Marvel Comics has had hits with X-Men, Spider-Man, and Blade and have X-Men2, Spider-Man2, Daredevil, and the Hulk coming out in the next year. Superman and Batman movies ruled the 70's and 80's and now they are just languishing while idiots in suits at AOL/TimeWarner jackoff while the clock is ticking.

                                                                                                                                              Tom Hanks is now 46. Only 21 years seperate them from the superman role. Not that bad. Tom Hanks is currently acting in 2 movies that will be relased in 2004, I can't see why he couldn't play superman also. Tom Hanks is a very busy actor, 3 movies in one year is nothing for him. That's because he got in shape a lot.

He's a hell of an actor and I'm sure he could pull it off. Might be a nice comeback for Swazye too... I dunno.
