Are bestiality pics illegal or not?

Illegal in some places (US), legal in others (NL, where the Hun is from).

There is a federal law making beastiality pictures illegal in the US? Where? Some States and local jurisdictions have those sorts of laws, but many do not.

In California for instance actually committing beastility is a misdemeanor, however the code says nothing about posessing or selling pics.

It depends what country you are in. Everything on the Net that is adult, is illegal somewhere. In some of the extremely sexually repressive countries like Saudi Arabia, even mild displays are illegal and subject to criminal prosecution.

I would avoid it if you are in the USA. You're only inviting potential problems by doing so.

Also, from a moral standpoint, using animals for human sexual gratification is a bit sicko if you ask me. I really would not like to ever kiss a girl that is into sucking horse dicks and crap like that.

It's illegal pretty much everywhere in the US. If there isn't a specific law on the books, the good old "violates community standards" law would get you shut down if your local city found out you were producing that sort of site.

It seems to me this is something that has been repeated so much people just believe its true. Inspired by one of Labret's posts I tried to find out if it actually is illegal. From what I found, while some States have laws making the act itself a criminal offense, I couldn't find any law anywhere that makes beastility porn illegal.

Of course I might be missing something.

There is the obscenity factor to consider, but that is for a Jury to decide. I'm sure in some liberal jury pool areas of the country you could get away with some forms of beast porn (much like Adam Glasser did with double fisting scenes in San Fernando) in court.

This little fact has worried me from the beginning. All it would take is one overzealous Bible Belt prosecutor to prosecute damn near everything as obscenity. There is nothing to prevent you from being tried for obscenity outside of your residential jurisdiction.

I believe the SCOTUS ruled (COPA case?) that the chilling effect created by the fact porn produced in the most liberal areas of the country could be prosecuted under the Miller test in the most conservative.. essentially creating a system where the entire nations "community standards" are dictated by the Bible Belters.. was not in and of itself unconsitutional, and not the reason COPA (Or maybe it was CIPA..
