nearly impossible.
If so, you will need a police report, but even with that.
I had that problem, the guy worked with it so Revenue canada added his income to mine ...
Guy was arrested and released on his own recognicance, but never showed up in court. The cops arrested me!!1 for theft of a snowblower ( I lived in a condo...). Car rentals, bad checks on bank accounts matched to my SiN....
After about 10 years, everything seems to be normal. Probably the guy is dead.
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !
But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....Comment

Yeah I had some idiot a few years ago trying to open cell phone accounts and even bank accounts under my name. It is a big pain in the ass! Even to this day I get nervous when I apply for credit! Dammit I have no debts and my credit is perfect, it's just not right!

now i get a letter from futureshop that i owe them money on some loan LOL.
i would love to have 5 minutes with this fucker. i wonder if hiring a P.I. might be worthwhile, as the police are utterly useless (big surprise).
from that link muff provided, it sounds like all you need is your birth certificate. forgive my ignorance, but is that the card (which i have) or is is a paper document (which my parents might have)?we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

Both versions (card and certificate) are valid birth certificate's. Sorry to hear about your luck Quiet, best of luck catching these people. SIN numbers are basically the gvt's way of tracking you for revenue, taxation, criminal records, etc... so changing it would be damn near impossible in my opinion. A friend of mine had his changed though when he became a resident of Canada. He came from Russia and apparently that was considered high risk or something and hence his SIN number had 911 as the first three digits which is apparently a flag to employers to not hire this person. Anyways, once he became a full resident he had a new SIN number assigned to him and could work fully in Canada now so I know its possible but not easily.

Says you need one of these as a primary...
* Certificate of Birth or Birth Certificate - This document is issued in Canada by Vital Statistics branch of the province or territory of your birth. Birth certificates issued to Canadian citizens born outside Canada are not acceptable.
* Certificate of Canadian Citizenship - This document is issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
* Population list
* Foreign birth certificate and Certificate of Indian Status (for Registered Indians born outside Canada)
A supporting document of the name you are using now is different from the name on the primary document (mainly for married women).
Then a copy of the police report.
The real fun will be getting all of it straightened out with any real creditors you have.
I would think a PI might be helpful. Somehow someone has to receive funds or goods and if they've applied for credit cards they'd have to use an address they have access to in order to receive the cards.Comment

Actually, I dont think the 911 means high risk.. it simply means that you arent a full resident yet I *THINK*
When I worked in the bank, I dealt with the new accounts quite a bit.. working for hongkong bank, we had a LOT of immigrants from asia... if I remember correctly, they all had 911 as the start of their sin card...
or something similar.Comment

It's the card you have. Your parents probably have the notice of birth registration card.Originally posted by quiet
