I'm definately going indoor pool on my next house.
Any comments on this opposed to an outdoor pool?
Why is it so hard to clean? I use an automated vacuum that does it by itself. (and keeps my dog occupied for hours)!

Having the covered pool is easier on the maintenance, especially since my property has many trees on it. The other advantage is that the windows are frosted, so it provides some privacy, except at night when all the light are on, then it glows like a huge lightbulb.

What is a pain in the ass is cleaning the glass, needs to be done at least twice a year.

Here's a few. Landscaping around it this spring to hide the filter/plumbing and continue the natural look...

                              Covered this winter...

Absolutely GORGEOUS gogobar!! LOOOOVE the rocks....

I have one of those covers too....got it because of my 2 year old mostly....but my dogs seem to think it's a trampoline and run over it every chance they get....they're wrecking it already and I'm 'this close' to saying bye bye to my doggies because of it.

Maybe if I had more property like you my dogs would have other places to roam...hehe.

                                  Brat,
Is it warming up to -10 now? teehee....my parents are in Toronto and they have been telling me how it's like -20 there....brrrrrrrr....I would guess montreal is similar?

The weather hear is similar to back east....lots of snow and cold in the winter...but we've been pretty lucky....don't think I've seen a day lower than -5.....on Monday it was 15....but I'm not holding my breath....I'm ready for the inevitable -10 - 20 Kamloops is so well known for.....brrrrrr

Thanks pipe and LOL. It's over $200 just to get one damn application of lawn fertilizer put down

GiGi; Thanks We only have one samll dog (Shiba Inu, about 25-30 lbs). Even with all the space to run he still thinks it's something fun to run on, until the water seeps through the mesh that is. Hopefully with his small size he won't do much damage.

LOL dacash!! Well if that ain't a good reason to be taking out money at the bank I don't know what is!

                                          gogobar,
LOL, yeah, I think those covers are just too interesting to pass up in a dogs eye.

Yer definitely lucky about your dog's size....I have a boxer pup who is still small.....but I also have an english mastiff who chases the puppy across the pool...lmao...and she is 120+lbs....haha....so far it's just been small vertical splits we've seen on the cover....but I'm invisioning them getting larger and larger as time goes on if we aren't careful....ours isn't mesh though....it's more like a nylon cover...but it is porous.

All I know is if they ruin it enough so we have to buy a new one I'll be digging a hold right beside the pool and they'll be jumping in.

Ahhh, the joys of dog ownership.

Awwwwe, so sorry to hear about your Shelty init. It's always hard to lose a pet.

The first time I saw a great dane was at a dog show. I turned around and there was one staring me in the face....I was standing.......

I don't think you really understand HOW big they are until you actually come face to face with one...lol....they are definitely magnificent dogs.

                                                    Gigi,

Try this. Your local veternarian will sell shock callers. It's sort of like a pager that gives your dog a mild shock. My sister is a veternarian, and I am an animal lover aswell .. Trust me, this is not cruel to your dog. Test the shock on yourself, it's very mild.

With the pager will be a trigger wire, that you are supposed to put around your property, dogs cross property line, dog gets mild shock.

Dig a very tiny trench around your pool. embed the wire in the ground. Dog crosses wire to run on pool cover, dog gets buzzed. Your dogs will learn quickly, and won't even need to wear the collar after awhile.

I've got a nice pool in my backyard but no scanner.

Init, i've got a case of beer in the trunk. LMK when you open your pool and i'll drop over and help out.

One just out of town in a place called birds hill had a very nice custom one, nothing like AaronM's, but nice. I know the summers are short here, but I've been told they're very hot and sunny. Actually having SUN at a BBQ by the pool would be a nice change for me, even if it is only 4 months a year.

Around there is where all the best homes are being built in WPG now. Gota love the LOW taxes there - If I ever move to winnipeg that's where I'll go. My inlaws live right near the IGA and liquer store.

Hot tubs are year round outside here, I'm currently looking into putting in a pool actually but I just can't bear only being able to use it for 4 months - it would be WAY too much of a tease.... indoor is really the ONLY way to go here, I have a couple of friends with indoor pools and I really LOVE them. I don't want to rush into it though, I like to look around at all possible options before I have it built otherwise I know I'll just make mistakes that I know I'll regret. Plus we just lived though 8 months of renovations on our house (had it TOTALLY, and I mean TOTALLY rebuilt ) so I don't want to hear another hammer for a couple of years.

If I get an indoor pool, it'll have to have a retractable roof for the summer. Besides the low cost of living, the sun is the second most positive thing about my move from BC to MB, and I plan on taking full advantage of it.

If I get an indoor pool, it'll have to have a retractable roof for the summer. Besides the low cost of living, the sun is the second most positive thing about my move from BC to MB, and I plan on taking full advantage of it.
I havn't heard good things about retractable roofs in this climate -the idea is cool but we do get a LOT of snow and EXTREME cold. I suppose it's possible to get a good one but it might be safer to just go with a ton of skylights - bugs can be a pain in the ass in the summer. I'm still investigating the best route for myself to go with.
