Happy Halloween/Samhain!

Happy Halloween, and a Blessed Samhain.

Here's a little Samhain poem I found to bring a little interest to the day.
The sun has gone down--as twilight encroaches
The first of the tentative spirits approaches...
His body is ether, yet lit with a spark
Of Summerland consciousness there in the dark...
His destination's the same, where he appears,
But this time is different from the last twenty years...
Pluming like chimney smoke from a shack,
He sails and shimmers, off through the black.
He sees without eyes the cities and towns--
Pulled toward one village, he floats toward the ground.
Ahead, in the distance, sits in disrepair
A small tattered cottage--his mission is there!
A flame in the window--a single black taper
Casts shadows on wrinkles and skin thin as paper...
Alone, by the window, she stands looking out.
She knows that on Samhain her love is about.
The look of the Otherworld is in her grey eyes,
She kisses the window, but what a surprise--
Instead of her grief, she feels joyous and free--
"My darling, this year you have come here for me!"
Away from the cottage, their spirits entwine,
Bathed in the moon like a silvery wine,
Until, with a laugh they are both out of sight...
And another bright spirit takes off through the night...
