    need advice on doing a contest.

    I have a messageboard on one of my sites and I'd like the board to get busier. So I was thinking of doing a contest, the first 2 people to each make 100 posts will each get $100 or something like that.

    What do you think of this idea? Could this fuck up and blow up in my face?

                  The problem you have is quality not quantity. Some ass will just post 100 pages of crap rather then what your after I think. What we do is auto track posts and create a top-20 posters list but at the same time we heavely moderate the boards so their quality's maintained. Then at the end of the month we give out prizes in the form of points that can be redeamed against thing's like membership subscriptions etc.

                      Thats a great idea but actually I just want quantity right now, I think quality comes after enough people are posting.

                      I dont care if there's quality if noone is coming to read it.

                                                      At least do this with a good amount of prize money to really get your board going. $1000 for the first 100 RELATED posts of at least 200 characters each, hows that sound
