I have a USD account, this was actually a transfer from USD to CAN normally you get a higher rate, If i had put a USD check directly in my can account it would be even lower apparently..... what an ugly day
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die." -Hunter S. Thompson
When I started this biz and did my first transfer from my US account to my Cdn account, the rate was $1.46, and at the time I thought that was great. Then it started to climb, and it slowly made it's way up over $1.50, then $1.55, and I once transfered over $2500 US when it was at $1.62. I made a killing on that move.
But anything over $1.50 is fine by me. I don't see the Cdn dollar strengthening much more before things rebound again. Try to leave your US money in your US account for a while, and keep tabs on the rate until it rises above $1.50 again.
I have a US $ acct with Td Canada Trust, check out their "Borderless Acct." It beats all the other banks consistently. they are paying 151.71, and to buy, you are paying 153.58 just checked online 2 mins ago.
Better keep converting your money from US to CAN $$ as soon as possible. I think with the war looming and the rising national debt in the US, the US$ can only go lower. Just my opinion.
You Know What the Us $ Wiil stiil be one of the Dominating Currencies of the world War Or not ! and the Canadian will always suck hind tit ! The polititians do not have the guts to standup for it

I think the only reason the CDN dollar is anywhere near as high as it is is because the Bank Of Canada's currency policy is to always keep a differential in interest rates with the US to prop it up, and if not for that difference- it would plummet overnight.

i hope so, I lost many thousands of dollars in the last couple of weeks due to this recent change as I leave a lot of money in a US currency account.

I'm not sure how its done, but if you want to smooth out the impact of the fluctuations in the currency differences - you can through some investment instrument - a hedge so you don't get burned as bad. I know large companies operating in several countries/currencies all do this.
does it mean that when it climes back to 1.55 it'll be a wise choice to transfer them all to canadians or still keep USD$ in usd account if i dont need them that much.. ?

If I were you, I would convert it now. However if you think you don't need it, perhaps the Can$ will go down sometime in the future. Are you willing to wait until that happens?
