They were probably looking at the wrong set of XRays. Ask them how your ovaries looked.

1. either they never removed your appendix

2. your a freak of nature

It's possible to have scar tissue that takes on the shape of the appendix.

It's also possible that your entire appendix wasn't removed.

It's also possible you're a freak of nature; but, I doubt it.

When I was 19 my boyfriend went to the doctor with a really bad headache, doc sent him home with some pain pills.

When it didn't work he went right back in they realized he was having a mild stroke, and performed emergency brain surgery.

But that original doctor had let him go home, and he could have died.

My grandfather died due to malpractice. The nurses saw blood in his IV and the doctor kept prescribing thinners. Woops.

goBigTime isn't my best friend in the world but he does have my support against Big Health Care.

What kills me is doctors are starting to walk off the job because their malpractice insurance plus all their other costs has them operating at a LOSS (they get paid less than they pay out) in some states. Fuck the insurance companies AND health care administrators.

I have had ailments (including broken bones) misdiagnosed no less than 4 different times. I get sent home only to receive a call later saying 'oh oops, come back in please so we can set your broken [limb]'

Childhood, I don't have Brittle Bone Disease or anything!

I always had weird fractures, a compression fracture once, a chipped bone once, few other things. But for them to send me home and CALL ME BACK after a radiologist looked at the x-rays (who looked at them before?!) was a little ridiculous.

One time it took them too long to spot it and they said 'too late now, just wait till it heals'. Gee thanks guys. A cast wouldn't have helped at all.

Once you do a little reading about the medical industry it doesn't seem quite so glamorous. My uncle studied at U. of Chicago medical school, he dropped out but he said the ONLY one of his 160 member class he would have allowed to operate on him was a guy who got kicked out the first week. They were all so robotic and inhuman, but they needed to be to compete at that level.

Did you grow up on Public Assistance? I'm asking because I did, and the medical attention I got as a kid was pretty sub-par.

No, grew up on the Fallon health plan. Sickeningly enough they were rated one of the top 3 in the country. Fucking TERRIBLE!

I forget the exact numbers from the studies I have read, but ~250,000 people die from practitioner mistakes or reactions to drugs (not counting drug interactions) every year. If they can't stitch/glue it back on forget it, I'm not going...

I have pretty decent healthcare I guess.. a PPO plan. I can go to whatever doctor or specialist I want pretty much. It's just really too bad that they all are drones to the same healthcare system irregardless of the level of insurance I have.

I'm sort of worried about the appendix thing now... I mean I went in there for a CT scan for a reason.. now maybe they didnt even read the right chart? And if they did... there is something growing where my appendix used to be? Ugh.

After using that system I would never go PPO, they had hundreds of doctors within a 30 mile radius and if you wanted someone else you could run it past them for approval. I got free occupational therapy as well.

Sorry that was mean, but to my knowledge an appendix can not grow back when it is removed.

When I was 26 I fell out of a tree (I've always been a tomboy). Had to be carried to the car, because I couldn't walk. I knew my arm was broken, it's funny how you remember that intense "heat" feeling from having done it 20 years before; but I had NO idea why I couldn't walk. My left leg just would not respond and I was scared shitless.
They took x-rays, told me my arm was broken, gave me a splint for it and said there was nothing wrong with my spine, hips, or legs.
The doctor actually had the audacity to wheel a wheelchair into the room and told me that I could leave when I could get up and walk to the chair. He didn't believe me, and it showed on his face.
Hubby and a sympathetic nurse had to carry me to the chair.

The next day the orthopedist they referred me to to put a cast on my arm listened to my explanation and immediately ordered another x-ray. 20 minutes later we're looking at a fracture in my pelvic bone that was glowing so brightly you would've thought it was neon.

His explanation though was that while breaks show up immediately on x-rays, fractures don't show up for 12-24 hours.
So that *might* explain why they'd call you back to fix something up.

As for the appendix thing - you might want to demand that they give you another CT scan. I think it's one of two things - either they were looking at the wrong scans, or your appendix never got taken out. If you find out it's the latter, sue the original hospital for everything the "operation" cost your family and insurance plus interest. It would NOT surprise me if they told you that you needed it taken out and then didn't do it just to fraud the insurance company and get some extra $$. If it turns out they were reading the wrong scan, find a new doctor or at least a new hospital to get your labwork/x-rays/scans done at.

Yeah it was taken out at a HMO.

Sad part is.. in California you have 1 year to file for malpractice.. it's been about 7 or 8 since my appendix was removed (err I thought it was removed?!)... but if they didn't remove it, you can bet their PR/Damage Control department will be padding my bank accounts in order to keep this away from the media - malpractice or not... it would just be baaaaad publicity for people to think that they are charging for surgeries without doing them. I highly doubt thats the problem though.

I'll know more first thing tomorrow though...
