    Rapist on payroll

I watched this documentary of Sadam Hussein on TV recently about his rule over Iraq. He has rapist on payroll to rape peoples family members during interrogative procedure. He has also been known to have peoples children get tortured in front of them as a form of interrogation. Speaking agaisnt Sadam Hussein is punishable in written law by cutting out your tongue. He uses several torture methonds including acid baths, electric shock, etc.
The program also described how thick his security is. Estimated 20 doubles that appear in public for him. They said the real Sadam Hussein hasnt been video taped in public in 4 - 5 years.
Makes me appreciate the fact that I live in a country that gives me the right to speak and live with freedom. When the United States goes to war and removes the Sadam goverment it will benifit the US and the people of Iraq.

I wonder what kind of job criteria he has for his Royal rapist. Can you imagine the interview process?

Yeh, I wish you could have had this to post several months ago when people kept saying how much his people loved him.

Ooo, he won the election 100%! His people love him!

Yeah that election was great. State-run voting booths with a YES or NO option for Hussein.

We should have pulled a Vietnam on them and decided to declare it void after it happened!

His people mainly live in absolute fear of Sadam and ignorance towards a better way of life. He has been dictator of Iraq for almost 30 years, many of those people dont know of a different way of life.
If the united states removes Sadam the money from that country will put the US economy back on the fast track. I cant understand why millions of US citizens would oppose this war. They want to drive big cars and live in wealth from a country that was built on war, kind of like I want to get paid without working.

The whole problem is there shouldn't be a difference. If we find nukes in Iraq (or strong evidence of a nuclear program) we invade. We find it in North Korea who DOES need the money (no oil) and has a reputation for extreme unpredictability (we were involved in a REAL war with them for years) and may very well sell the nukes to the highest bidder, and we want to pursue diplomacy?

                                          N. Korea was part of the 'Axis of Evil' but we're offering them FOOD and ECONOMIC AID to disarm, to Iraq we're offering invasion forces with no proof or admission of guilt.

I'm not totally against the war, but I would like to see some more evidence in support of it. Saddam being a bad man just isn't enough, if we went to war with every country that had a bad person running it, we'd be at war with a lot of countries.

There is many reasons why it is different,

War with Iraq is a investment rather then a long term costly burden as war with N. Korea would be. Iraq has proven not to work on a dipolmatic level, while N.Korea can actually be dealt with in that manner.
The UN weapon violations is just one reason for removing Sadam, Sadam is also considered a war criminal and has violated human rights in such ways as Hitler.

Hasn't N Korea broken every treaty we've had with them? I think that they're just not that much of a threat, like a small dog with a big bark.

The difference is we've been dealing with the Koreas since the 1950's. North Korea is a problem with a violation of a treaty; Iraq is killing it's own people. Huge difference.

The whole idea of foreign policy is to have a consistent strategy for dealing with threats. Right now the US has no foreign policy. The flap with N Korea shows that Bush's pre-emption doctrine is nothing more than a once off justification for following though on his personal grudge with Saddam.

North Korea is more of a threat and its dictator Kim has racked up a body count through starvation that Saddam could dream about. Despite what those who try to rationalize the inconsistency might say, there is no evidence that a diplomatic solution will work with N. Korea, but there is evidence that it works with Saddam, who has been relatively quiet and contained for nearly a decade.

No argument there. Just saying actively coddling one regime just makes it even WORSE. Contrary to current doctrine you don't have to invade someone just because they pose a threat. We sure didn't ever take direct military action against Russia, that's why they call it 'cold.'

We have economic sanctions on Iraq already, but we're offering AID to North Korea if they make concessions we never gave Saddam the chance to make (well arguably we did give him resolutions, but the UN certainly didn't enforce them). Let the UN do their thing, he doesn't really need their aid as much as he says due to his oil reserves, but the whole thing smacks of hypocrisy.

Noone gives a fuck about starving and suffering populace elsewhere in the world. We OBVIOUSLY don't give a fuck about other dangerous rogue countries having nukes or our reaction to North Korea would have been more serious than a rap on the knuckles.

I just hate the bullshit we're being fed by the government right now. For once I'd like to see an honest statement by ANYone in power, on either side of the aisle.

The current policy, supposedly, is one of preemptive strikes on countres which threaten the US. Saddam is not a threat to the US. His military is pathetic, he has no nuclear weapons, and its doubtful that he has enough chemical or biological weapons to do any real damage. N. Korea on the other hand has a real military, and nuclear weapons, and chem/bio weapons, and a crackpot dictator.

So if we're going to run around doing preemptive strikes, we should be invading N Korea, not Iraq. There is no reason to invade Iraq beyond the fact that Saddam is an obvious prick, and again, to be consistent, if we're going to invade Saddam for being a prick to his own people, there are lots of other countries we're going to have to do the same thing to. But we won't because Iraq is about Bush's personal grudge, not any rational need to invade to protect our interests.

That is the whole point of the anti-war movement. No one thinks Saddam is a nice guy or a model citizen, its the fact that Bush is obviously playing out his personal grudges rather than looking out for the interests & security of the nation that worries people. It worries alot of other countries too.

As American combat forces continued to flow into the Persian Gulf region and the United Nations debated Iraq, Mr. Rumsfeld said "it will not take months" to decide whether President Saddam Hussein is cooperating with weapons inspectors.

"In the case of Iraq, we're nearing the end of the long road, and with every other option exhausted," he said.

In making his case that the United States and "a coalition of the willing" must prepare for military action to disarm Iraq, should President Bush order the nation to war, he said the Hussein government had been stonewalling weapons inspectors.

His regime has large, unaccounted-for stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons including VX, Sarin, mustard gas, anthrax, botulism and possibly smallpox," Mr. Rumsfeld said in an address to the Reserve Officers Association here. "And he has an active program to acquire and develop nuclear weapons."

He dismissed those who were demanding incontrovertible proof of Iraq's arsenal of terror weapons.

While Iraq and North Korea "are both repressive dictatorships," Iraq "is unique," he said.

"No other living dictator has shown the same deadly combination of capability and intent, of aggression against its neighbors, pursuit of weapons of mass destruction, the use of chemical weapons against his own people as well as against his neighbors, oppression of his own people, support of terrorism, and the most threatening hostility to its neighbors, and to the United States, as has Iraq," he said.

                                                                            ---

                                                                                  ---

Speaking agaisnt Sadam Hussein is punishable in written law by cutting out your tongue. He uses several torture methonds including acid baths, electric shock, etc.

Speaking agaisnt Sadam Hussein is punishable in written law by cutting out your tongue. He uses several torture methonds including acid baths, electric shock, etc.

Your thinking is flawed. If Saddam is left to his own devices he will eventually acquire nukes. He is a dictator that has attacked Israel, Kuwaite, and Iran. He has demonstrated that he will use WMD's twice (Iran and his own people). He is going to be taken down before he acquires the power that N Korea currently has.

We have to attempt to deal with N Korea in a different way. N Korea has the ability to basically destroy S Korea in a matter of hours if not moments. If they use their Nukes Seoul is toast and tens of millions die in moments. Even if they did not use their nukes they still have the ability to kill hundreds of thousands of people in Seoul and do a repeat of the 1st Korean war which was to take over S Korea other than a small perimiter. Ultimately they would be defeated and this time forever, but the loss of life would be great. A war in Korea will destroy S Korea's economy. The loss of their economy will effect the world economy.

To invade Iraq before they can present the major problem that N Korea has become, is the smart thing to do. An invasion of Iraq will have little effect on the world economy, and will probably mean an improvement of the world economy. The USA will deal with N Korea, and militarily, if it has to, but hopefully we won't have to.
