with every program coming out with free hosted galleries do you think there will be a need for gallery submitters 2 years from now?

There will always be a need for submitters.
hosted galleries will be too damn slow loading if everyone used them. Not to mention the same stale layouts sponsors use. There would be nothing unique on tgp's to keep surfers comming back. Which can be a good thing, so long as 100 percent of tgp's used them. That way surfers will get fed up and pay for a membership.
Also most tgp's liek to take submissions for a major reason, RECIPS. Go 100 percent hosted galleries, and you end up losing lots of potential traffic.
I have a toy tgp I'm playing with that has NOTHING but hosted galleries, productivity is low. Even from bookmarkers. -
There's one thing that I don't get about some sponsors that offer hosted galleries, they make the damn pictures ultra low grade. Sure, it does save on bandwidth for them, but hell, if they're trying to sell their site, you'd think that they'd try their best to make the pics look as good as they can to sell their sites.
HOWEVER, there are some places that DO offer great high quality pictures and it does show in their signup ratios.Comment

While it is true that submitted galleries have some plus points:
recips (- although I don't know how much extra traffic this brings in practice),
variety and therefore higher productivity,
descriptions - maybe that will come in time with hosted ones.
the advantages of hosted galleries are:
no redirecting,
no reviewing,
income they generate.
Today, it is quite easy to get hold of 5,000 hosted galleries. In a year or two, this may be 20,000 or 50,000. Who knows? With more variety, productivity should go up.
My preferred strategy at the moment is to do a mixture of hosted and normal, and it is working well.
But I think you have a point. The trend will be for more and more TGP owners to use hosted galleries (especially as they become more plentiful). That means lower returns for gallery submitters.Comment
