Here's another one for you Quiet - I don't even have to wonder for two seconds who's making the money in this thread. It sure isn't you. It would be the folks in here who are actually NETWORKING. A good skill for you to learn, cowboy....

Let me break it down for you in simple terms, cowboy... "networking" is about the opposite of "flaming". Networking is about creating mutually beneficial relationships. Networking increases your bottom line in the long run.

I don't even know you but I can tell right now that in a year, you'll be one of those guys begging me to cut you a content deal. Know how I know this, Quiet? Because I know biz. I also can smell a "biz newbie" a mile away. I'm no "biz" newbie... I'm new to the adult web biz... let's get that straight. You, on the other hand, strike me as a guy who tossed up a couple of TGP's and has made his first thousand bucks and now thinks he knows the biz.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But either way, I suggest you learn a few people skills and learn about the art of networking. Those two things will put more money in your pocket in ANY biz than "attitide" any day of the week... cowboy. Always glad to help :-)

You are too funny. I'd wager $1,000 that you still won't be making money a year from now. Hell you probably won't even be in the business then.

Hey, I'm proud of ya. God Bless ya :-) I mean that. I'm wrong. You da man. That's great. If you think I've never generated that kind of flow, you've got another thing coming though. In adult sites? No. You've got me there. But biz is biz, and it's not rocket science either. Anyway - not taking a thing away from you, I'm truly impressed by your ability to create revenue. Revenue. Let's not confuse that with profit :-) Either way, it's revenue that sells. Hat's off to ya Quiet. Let that be an inspiration to all of us.

Minit dude, one thing to learn in biz mr knowz it all, is never ever assume anyone's stature or wealth, especially in this biz.

Don't judge by the car they drive, the watch they wear, the clothes they got on, how sophisticated or smart they seem, etc.
Looks are almost always deceptive when it comes to wealth.
A lot of guys sound and act super low key in this biz.

Go to one of the industry shows and you'll see guys walking around in flip flops and t-shirts that don't look like they got a dime to their name and some of these guys are knocking down 7 fig incomes and beyond.

I'd love to bring you down here and have you walk into a room with all my biz partners. All of us could easily be pass for average joes, and we'd be laughing at your ass cause we could buy and sell you 50 million times over. LOL

Very impressing Quiet. Although nobody has told me what site you run it is obviously a very high quality production you have going. Maybe after you are gone you can write a book for some of these paysites that don't know what recurring means past 2 months. Either way congratulations on a very nice business and good luck to you when you are taking it easy.

I think lots of people would be quite surprised how many webmasters have million dollar businesses.

If you mean this is a bad place to call someone who's been in 7 years and makes millions of dollars a penniless moron, then yeah.

Something I said elsewhere but seems it applies to 99% of newbies in this business and certainly this guy.

Tell someone what they want to hear they'll love you forever (and be broke after a few months). Tell them what they need to hear and they'll think you an asshole.

Some great advice floating around but you still gotta have that traffic. If you're gonna build paysites first then learn to get it, you'd better have a healthy bank balance to fund it. Oh, I forgot. 3 mil is nothing to you. Build away!
                                      Ignorance is never bliss.

Ok, my situation in a nutshell. Let's say I've got amateur content (not tons, but what little I've got is exclusive), a domain, a host, and no money. I've got basic web design skills, but that will work fine for the nitche.

I was considering doing a paysite but I've heard maybe I shouldn't start out that way. I haven't heard why I shouldn't, or what I should do as an alternative though.

With the above facts in mind, and knowing what you know about the biz, what is the best and fastest way for me to take the few tools I have and turn them into cash?

I know this isn't a "get rich quick with no money" biz, but with me working my butt off on promoting the site, what would be the quickest way for me to turn some cash without risking my exclusive content?

first.....don't care to much about the shit some ppl tell you. and don't waste your time with signing up under a new id (who gives a fuck about what ppl think about you ?!? and i don't see a reason to kiss quiet's ass just because he's making some nice $$, allthough the #s are impressive). rather spend the time on creating your own "game plan". also....don't spent too much time on the boards. for now, you better read helpful articles at ressource sites like www.cozyfrog.com. you can post your ass off on the boards later.

if you really have no $$ left over, i would rather go with avs than starting a paysite.
for example. build your main site with all your content and make it a premium/platinum site. then...if you have...let's say 50 sets with 100 pix each. take 25-50(depending on the req. of the avs you choose) pix of each set and build 50 standard avs sites. with each of your standard sites promote your premium site + a link to your hub (a site with links to all you other avs sites). on the last gallery of each of your sites, put a exit console that either loads your hub or maybe a site where you list AND describe one or a few sponsor sites. also put an exit console on your avs-code page (if the terms of your avs allow it) maybe with links to a per click sponsor or something, because you don't want to loose the traffic that doesn't sign up with the avs. for the exit console itself....one is enough...and make it easy to close....and i wouldn't use any auto dialer shit.

well....what ever you do. good luck bro

excelent advice. DONT jump into a paysite until you know where the traffic will come from, and how to convert it ... you will find yourself crying one night in front of your checkbook otherwise, lol

It's ok man, I opened my mouth and I stepped right in... lol. I deserved that for getting pissy as a newbie. A "no-no" in networking for sure.

Hehe... nope, ain't changing ID's. There were a number of fantastic responses to my questions, yours included. The questions were answered and that is what I needed. I always expect to be flamed as a newbie. I'm usually better at keeping my mouth shut on these boards, but oh well.

Cool, thanks for the link. As for Quiet - I have no reason to kiss his or anybody else's ass. I'm truly impressed by the man's ability to create revenue, and doubly impressed that he's doing all of that on a 70% margin. If that's ass kissing, then so be it, but I don't need him and he doesn't need me either.

Also, on that note, Quiet asked a very good question that deserves a response. Not for him, but for anybody in biz. 2 years ago I had a more conventional marketing businesses. As the money started pouring in I had to have help. I found a couple hotshots and decided instead of paying them 6 figure salaries, I'd just offer them a percentage of the corporation. We built it up (with me being the CEO) to over 2 million bucks in annual revenues.

What happened? Why am I broke? This is important to all of you who are making big money for the first time - I got LAZY. I took a month off to take a cross-country motorcycle adventure, thinking and assuming my pards would keep the ball rolling. Well, they did. They took the company's top relationships (on both the client and the marketer side) and used that opportunity to form their own corporation on the side. Bit by bit, my millions of dollars of revenues trickled into less and less and less. Pards were saying "I don't know man, maybe we should just shut the doors". Well, they bailed out, leaving me with a huge coporate debt while their own corp had all my biz.

This was a year ago. Today, my "pards" are enjoying decent revenues but they also have a lot of "three-letter-bureaus" up their asses too because of course, they don't operate their company with the same integrity I did. They like flirting with the dark side and it's catching up to them quickly. As for me, my top competitor "bought" my database of marketers and me along with it. He's paying me chicken-scratch plus commission. I hate it, but I'm giving him an honest days work.

Moral of this story, watch your ass, don't get lazy, there's really no such thing as "retirement", and realize that any empire can crumble at a few strokes of the pen. Off my soapbox, but you asked (Quiet).

[i].... if you really have no $$ left over, i would rather go with avs than starting a paysite. for example. build your main site with all your content and make it a premium/platinum site. then...if you have...let's say 50 sets with 100 pix each. take 25-50(depending on the req. of the avs you choose) pix of each set and build 50 standard avs sites. with each of your standard sites promote your premium site + a link to your hub (a site with links to all you other avs sites). on the last gallery of each of your sites, put a exit console that either loads your hub or maybe a site where you list AND describe one or a few sponsor sites. also put an exit console on your avs-code page (if the terms of your avs allow it) maybe with links to a per click sponsor or something, because you don't want to loose the traffic that doesn't sign up with the avs. for the exit console itself....one is enough...and make it easy to close....and i wouldn't use any auto dialer shit.
Now this... is *excellent* advice... just what I have been looking for. Now that is a gameplan! As for dialers, I'd personally *never* slam one of those on somebody's pooder. I was considering giving my customers that option at the lowest rate I possibly can, but I'm definitely not into popping one up.

[i]....well....what ever you do. good luck bro
