Newbie in need of "game plan"

Great group of helpful people! Thanks for this forum, y'all :-)

Ok, my situation in a nutshell. Let's say I've got amateur content (not tons, but what little I've got is exclusive), a domain, a host, and no money. I've got basic web design skills, but that will work fine for the nitche.

I was considering doing a paysite but I've heard maybe I shouldn't start out that way. I haven't heard why I shouldn't, or what I should do as an alternative though.

With the above facts in mind, and knowing what you know about the biz, what is the best and fastest way for me to take the few tools I have and turn them into cash?

I know this isn't a "get rich quick with no money" biz, but with me working my butt off on promoting the site, what would be the quickest way for me to turn some cash without risking my exclusive content?

It's funny you mention that. My web site's name is "Weanie Wolfing Walmart Girls". Getting a job there could be a good idea... give me a chance to dip the old pen in the company ink and film it <g>.

      Any other ideas?

750$ is your start fee for a paysite, not including hosting (atleast 50$ a month)

So figure on spending atleast a grand in your first week, thats if you can do everything else yourself.

The why's obvious - a paysite with no traffic is no use to anyone. Learn traffic and how to convert, then maybe think about a paysite.
                Ignorance is never bliss.

Oops... forgot to mention - I've got a processor and a backup already (and to the others, I already do fuck myself once in awhile and sorry - I buy drugs, I don't sell them <g>).

I'm just trying to figure out why people would be discouraging me from doing a paysite for my first adult site? I know it will take a lot of marketing in my free time, but I can handle that. If anything, my biggest challenge (besides the marketing) would be my lack of large quantities of content.

                      Gameplan:

                      1) Go to Burger King.
                      2) Politely ask manager for application.
                      3) Fill it out.
                      4) Give back to manager.
                      5) Serve me a fucking whopper.

Dude, I'd love to just do it up right, outsource my web design, lay out some cash for a few more models, etc., etc., but you missed one important part of my post.... no $$$ left! It's not about the games. It's about the complete members area. Is it enough to entertain people, get them off, and still keep them longing for more?

Games are just one little part of that, as are lotsa plugins, stories, a messageboard, text, info on the models (whether it be fake or not), etc.
It's about creating a members area that isn't just some content thrown together, but rather an erotic entertainment pack for the surfer, with a personal touch.
Ofcourse, that'll have to go along with a great deal of good pictures and videos, so the surfer can also get off to fresh, original content.

I gotchya. Because I haven't gotten anything besides pics/vids of the first model, the member area would be lacking greatly in the beginning, which must be why I've had others discouraging me from starting out with a paysite.

Would you suggest in the beginning to go with an AVS site, *then* upgrade it eventually to a paysite as my content and $$$ add up? Thanks for a great response.

Here's a few tips on amateur sites:

                                              - update often. several times a week is best.
                                              - announce future updates, with sample pics. it makes it more tempting for the surfer to stay a member.
                                              - give info about models (can be fake). members will get into a "relationship" with the site that way.
                                              - do more than one set of the same girl, and say "more will follow" later. that makes 'm recur.
                                              - let models write (can be fake, written by you) about their shoots and such. gives the thing a personal touch.
                                              - make the site personal. instead of announcing a set as "See Cindy do anal", announce it as "This is Cindy's first anal set. Even though she was a bit nervous about it, we had a blast during the shoot. After she really got into it she almost seemed insatiable. (etc)"
                                              - provide good customer support. let people give their opinions and suggestions for the site.
                                              - build a community. try a message board (where people can post their own pictures?), in which the "models" (you) also post. communities can be very addictive, GFY is a good example

Don't pay any mind to these dickwads. There's some nice folks on this board, but they don't generally read these threads because the newbie abuse is predictable and boring.

Bottom line is, some folks are afraid of competition, and most folks agree that there are too many webmasters chasing too few dollars.

The way I see it, you've already got everything you need to put a paysite up, so what do you have to lose? Put it up and then start figuring out how to bring in the traffic.

The flip side of "a paysite is worthless without traffic" is "traffic is worthless without somewhere to send it to." Why spend months sending traffic to sponsors for a fraction of the profit, if you've got what it takes to scoop the whole profit?

Also, adult webmasters as a whole seem to think more competition is less money for each of them. This isn't true. This is the only industry I see that thinks once you have signed a customer up he's ruined. If he decides never to join another paysite its because the one he went to sucked. I just bought a car. Does that mean all the car dealers can count me out?

Go for the paysite man. You have nothing to lose. If you want some tips on traffic hit me up or post your message ID here.

Thank you Stocktrader, Forkbeard, Punkworld, and the rest of you who aren't paranoid about new entrants to this arena, for your fantastic advice and comments. Well appreciated :-) Please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

As for the folks who are resistant to us new folks who are just entering the scene, I'm not trying to tell you how to live or anything but I found out years ago in other businesses that being helpful can line your pockets in the longrun, but being rude can only put you on the bad side of somebody who just may very well be somebody you will someday want some help from in return. Nothing groundbreaking, just the golden rule.

Like Stocktrader says - there's plenty of money to go around. You've got to give to get. It's just the way shit works.

Definitely start with an AVS site. You can take it off of the link list to begin. You won't have to worry too much about keeping members in the beginning if you go this route because AVS sites already recur like mad. You can use this time to learn all of the other basics like traffic generation, site design etc.

There are a few avs sites that will pay you around $20-$23 per month so you will make as much as you would have from your own site. You can also take advantage of the free hosting and the free content to fill your site out.

Do this, build up some money and then expand.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

In fact, it appears to me that "most of us" are intelligent, businessminded individuals who are glad to help each other out because even though some competition is created with each new entrant to this arena, there is also strength in numbers.

Here's another one for you Quiet - I don't even have to wonder for two seconds who's making the money in this thread. It sure isn't you. It would be the folks in here who are actually NETWORKING. A good skill for you to learn, cowboy....

Let me break it down for you in simple terms, cowboy... "networking" is about the opposite of "flaming". Networking is about creating mutually beneficial relationships. Networking increases your bottom line in the long run.

I don't even know you but I can tell right now that in a year, you'll be one of those guys begging me to cut you a content deal. Know how I know this, Quiet? Because I know biz. I also can smell a "biz newbie" a mile away. I'm no "biz" newbie... I'm new to the adult web biz... let's get that straight. You, on the other hand, strike me as a guy who tossed up a couple of TGP's and has made his first thousand bucks and now thinks he knows the biz.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But either way, I suggest you learn a few people skills and learn about the art of networking. Those two things will put more money in your pocket in ANY biz than "attitide" any day of the week... cowboy. Always glad to help :-)

Those two things will put more money in your pocket in ANY biz than "attitide" any day of the week... cowboy. Always glad to help :-)

give me a deal on content... for sure.
