    Wiping a hard drive

    What's the best way to delete everything from a PC's hard drive? I want to give an old computer to my parents but I don't want them to stumble upon all my site designs and content. Does re-formating get rid of everything for good? How do you reformat with XP?

                      How computer literate are your parents?

                      If they're just the typical surf the web, write emails, and type up the occasional document in Word type of people, formatting it will be fine.

                          Hard drive's are very delicate... make sure to use 3-ply.

                              Just format the drive and reinstall windows. Unless yer parents take it to a drive restoration specialist, they will never see anything.
