In some cultures it's a statement of bravery and acceptance by others. Other cultures use scarfication as a manner of showing status in the community. Some have said that hanging from hooks in their back makes them feel peaceful spiritually and closer to God.
My only concern is DAMN what if the skid tears!!! And I don't think I'd want to grow old with a slice and dice scar on my skin... but that's just me. To each his own.
Any way you slice it and dice it it's still the decision of the person who's body is being butchered. And more power to 'em if it's something they llike the rest of their life
