It's way too slow loading even on cable...
You don't have to repeat the date for every link. Something like Movies For January 15 would help. Also, go for multiple columns for the galleries instead of just one straight column going that far down.
Oh, I see your main problem: don't use a background image. Use a solid background color instead.
Also rethink your color scheme...the green for link is okay but the regular text color is hard to see on that background.

I've been told that if you want to build the traffic, dump your banners until you've built to a level that you're satisfied. I haven't gotten to this point yet, but the person who's helping me out is a pro.Comment
