A few months ago I saw a dog get hit by a car when it ran into traffic. The dogs owner was a hippy guy who would never put a leash on his dog... he did'nt like restricting his dog.

So because it really upsets us to see or hear of an animal being treated like a toss-toy, we're hypocrits if we aren't vegetarians? Huh?
There's a reason that we have both molars and insisors: We're OMNIVOROUS. If it's morally upsetting to you that mother nature created us to need certain types of animal-based protiens in order to keep our bodies healthy (which vegetarians get through vitamin supplements, I believe) then that's YOUR problem. I like my steak rare.
I also have four cats and a dog here at home, and should anyone attempt to harm them, they'd find themselves in a world of hurt. There's a difference in mistreating a pet and eating cattle bred specifically for the purpose of becoming food. Your argument is one of the oldest in the world, and apparently it isn't going to end anytime soon.
Are you a vegetarian? If so, then that's your choice, no one else made it for you, and therefore no one else should be forced to be labelled as a hypocrit because we are not followers of the rabbit-food diet. If it upsets us and pisses us off to see an innocent animal being harmed or mistreated, then let us be angry instead of attacking us because you have the "holier than thou" syndrome.

I like Fitzgerald quite a bit.
I read A Farewell to Arms and didn't like it a bit. The overall story was pretty good, but I don't care for his writing style at all. His novels (from what I've read) are too "journalistic" for me. I love the way he writes, so minimal. I love his ability to say so much in so few lines. my favorites are the sun also rises, and old man and the sea.

I've still got all my original 'school copies' of Lord Of The Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Of Mice and Men, as well as Lolita (Nabokov), all of which get a readthrough now and again when I'm inbetween major series.Comment

My friend worked on a farm where he had to get cows into a pen to feed them or give them medication, etc. The only way to get them to move was to beat them over the head with an axe handle. I wish I had a video of that, these people would being going nuts.
