What I don't understand is why people think that a clone of yourself would be "you".
It would simply be another human who shares your DNA. No different than an identical twin.
I have known many identical twins in my life and I can tell you that they are always two individuals with differences in personality.
For example I knew one set of identical twins (cute redheaded girls) and one of the two was a bit wild and crazy and had good taste, while the other was more studious and wouldn't sleep with me, so obviously suffered from poor taste.

As for Cloning itself, I'm not in favour of cloning a living being, but I am in favour of it if it can lead to some sort of regeneration of tissue. Like sci-fi movies, imagine if you lost your arm in a car accident. They take your DNA, grow an arm in a lab over like 6-12 months let's say, and attach it back on you. Or a heart transplant, lungs, whatever. Not by harvesting from a human being, but by creating from new tissue. That would be good.

I am listening to the Science channel while working this morning, and I just watched this guy and his bug robots.
They are solar powered and are only hardwired for certain parameters. They exist and live fully on their own and just follow light all day.
Also some scientists did a project regarding a certain type of ant, that seperates and hordes mulch fungi and other things in thwe ant hive.
Well they created robots with simple commands. They took a skating rink and put 50+ robots and tons of discs(white and black). The robots were commanded to a) if you are holding a white disc and bump into something drop it and turn away. b)if you are holding nothing and bump into a disc pick it up. c) if you are holding a black disc and bump into something back away turn and drop the disc. Essentially to seperate the white and black discs like ants and items.
What they were trying to do was replicate the collecting of object, studying for underwater mine retrieval from wars etc.
The bots were awesome.
I just watched the whole show about it, if you can catch it sometime you should.
They had an awesome spider bot that could carry 350 + lbs and was 6 feet diameter. It was remote controlled and crawled up walls like a spider.
As you most likely know all the bots now are being modeled after animals. The snake robot was truly awesome. It was like 13 feet and sidewinded and everything.

Seeing Tilden tune the brains of those 'RoboBugs' was awesome, he showed how at first the brain doesnt move the oegs right, he tweaks it, the legs begin operating at the right time to allow the bug 'to walk' and then it starts to follow sunlight and he doesnt turn them off. He has a whole house full of these fucking things that live and exist without any commands or human functioning.
