1984 was a very good year, when as a 17 year old idiot, I took my first puff. Marlboro Red if memory serves me correctly
1985 and I wisely upped the ante to Camel filterless, 2 packs a day.
1986 developed a bad cough so brilliantly decided I needed a filter... Benson and Hedges Special Filter, 2-3 packs a day (Hey, they were LONG days!)
1995 first and ONLY attempt ever at quitting. Lasted 21 days when now ex-wife stormed out of house, went to shop, stormed back in, threw packet at me and said, "For fucks sake, have a smoke, you are driving me fucking crazy"
1998 got REALLY sick. In an amazingly brave and fucking idiotic move, decided that smoking had NOTHING to do with it.
2003 sitting here at computer, posting on GFY, cigarette dangling from corner of mouth (as usual!!) and counting the days until someone gets to claim on my life insurance FAR earlier than the national average.
Honestly, I would smoke chains if I could get the bastards to stay lit.
For an (apparently) really smart guy, I am pretty fucking stupid.
I reckon I could have bought a house with what my constant nicotine fix has cost me over the past 19 years.
[sigh]
[puff]
[inhale]
[exhale]
[ash]
[relax]
You don't die from the first heart attack, you die worrying about the 2nd one.
