What to buy a 7 year old...

My little brother. My mom says he likes reading to her, so I bought him a couple books... a box set of Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, and some other book. He has the Stuart Little movie and loves it, so I thought he might enjoy the book.

Anyway, when a 7 year old is opening Christmas presents, he doesn't want books, he'll like them later though. So I need something else to buy the little guy, I have about $30 more to spend on him. Putting about $50 total on each of my brothers.

I live 2000 miles away from him, so have no idea what he's into. Do any of you have any ideas on something he might like? There are plenty of parents around here, somebody has to have a 7 year old!

Even better than super soakers are the products put out by Nick. Go and get some "String Launchers" and "GAK", and don't forget the "Splat". You can find that gooey stuff at all stores and it is cheap. Kids that age love it, esp. the boys.

Good suggestion. He has the old Super Nintendo hooked up right now and had me playing it with him. Although, my other brother has a PS2 which he does get to play often enough.

He'll probably be getting plenty of video games from Santa, I want to break the mold and get him away from the TV. He's always in front of it.

Any of the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter action figures. Better yet, get him the kit that lets him make gross candy. Those are always fun.

Well I know my nephew who is about 6 likes the Transformers a lot and they are making a big comeback. If you are looking for learning stuff, Stuart Little is definitely good.

I have a 7 yr old boy here.

If in doubt, get up Saturday morning and watch cartoons. My experience is that they want everything on every commercial.

You really can't go wrong!

Action figures, Dragon ball Z is pretty big these days. Maybe he's into Lego's? Some of the newer theme sets are pretty fly.

does he have access to a pc? At his age i was programming in basic on my ZX spectrum! Kids understand computers much better than older people. It's amazing that back then I could figure every possible bit of code and now I suck ass. It's hard to concentrate anymore......

anyway,anything related to bytes and bits would be exciting for him :-)

7 year olds are hard to buy presents for.. I have a 7 year old (it's his birthday today) and he's not into Harry Potter and action man..and what ever else you might see on tv...

For his birthday.. he is getting a racetrack and for x-mas a remote control monstertruck... With my 2 boys you can't go wrong if it has a remotecontrol....

Get him a mini RC Car... I grabbed myself one just to fuck around with on my desk and the things are a blast. You can pick them up in those novelty stores at the mall or buy one online.

if you have time, go to garage sales or swap meets to find old vintage Star Wars Action figs and other gear. He or she'll love 'em, save 'em, and make tons of cash when he or she is 18

Hey Sly...check into this thing called Leap Frog.

My niece is 10 years old and is allowed to bring it home from school when she does well.

She just loves this thing.

I saw them at Wal-Mart they are like $39.99.

Anyway they are an educational toy, you follow along in stories or answer problems.

You can buy books for them with all the age ranges up to I think 12.
The books that go along with it cost about $12-$15

Next, dads and moms, what do you want for Christmas? I had their gifts picked out, but they were sold out. My parents are about 40, I'm totally clueless.

My dad is like me, a little bit into everything, making it impossible to buy for. He's a mechanic, loves to hunt, runs his own shop, likes racing and sports in general.

My mom likes "mom" type things. Little statues, decorations, things like that.

Any ideas? What would YOU like for Christmas?

IF you wanna go with the educational toys...definitely turbo twist!!! My daughter LOVES them!!!

You can get mind blaster to go with them, where you can download your own vocabulary words on there...his spelling words for the whole school year!!

They have them for spelling, math, science/geography/history. They're absolutely wonderful!!!

My 7 year old is nuts about dinosaurs, so loves anything to do with, but like any 7 year old, he also wants everything he sees on tv.

When buying for him, I figure I'll buy something I can have fun playing with too...heheeh
