I use m3server.com and always refer without the code.

i use them for virtual hosting right now, and haven't had any problems.

i'm curious as to whether or not those prices/plans are good.

"unlimited b/w" for $499/mo. Heh, I'd be extremely weary of that kinda offer. Even tho its a 1.3ghz, 512MB ram 60GB IDE setup, you could still push a good amount of BW with that box for the money. Good luck....

Cogent is a really cheap bandwidth provider that USED to have problems. I am not a big Cogent fan, but I still have boxes on them. And I have to say that they have been really good for me in terms of uptime.

The latency has got better as well. It is still considered the "noname" product of all bandwidth providers, but they are much more cheaper than others with their 100mbit and 1Gbit lines.

People who hate them probably had problems with them when they opened, however, as I said before, they have improved.

Finally, they will not go out of business in the short term, as many of you predict/think.

Agreed...(about Cogent)..I have a total of 5 dedicated servers...2 on cogent and 3 on other multihomed providers... I regularily test download speeds from 10 locations worldwide...

Some places get better resolve time from cogent, others worse...but all in all, the average download time for my image intense 145K test page is about 7 seconds on Multihomed and 8 seconds on Cogent.

And, I have experienced only one 1/2hour downtime in 2 years that was the fault of the cogent network.

So much depends on the skill of the people putting together your box....I would give that much more attention then the network..

those are definetly the best prices i've seen. they seem to good to be true.

and pr0, i understand what you're saying. when i started hosting with them, i knew sweet fuck-all about hosting. i searched "adult web host" in yahoo, compared prices and features and signed up for them. i hadn't even heard of gfy yet.
strangely enough, none of the big hosts that people on this board use came up when i did that search.
