It seems to mainly be virtual accounts, but I'm with Sleazy, if I had a box there, I'd get out before the virtual problems became my problems. Plus, ask that dynaspin dude how he likes his server.

Isn't the whole point of paying for a MANAGED server not to have to worry about understanding it? Don't people pay good money to have thier hosting company take care of the technical side so they can focus on the business side of things? The majority of webmasters I know have little knowledge of how to use the operating system their sites run on.

the amount of complaints I can't understand why cologroup has ANY clients at all?
If you guys where paying attention last month on one of the other "Cologroup Down threads", I said I am not doing virtual hosting anymore and told everyone that we where discontinuing the service at the end of December. It was no longer a wise business decision to continue the virtual service.

A lot of customers moved off when I said that last month, which is what I wanted, but there are still almost 100 accounts on there. If Jamie at thumbserver wants the virtual accounts, go ahead and sign them all up. On January 1, 2003, we are done with virtual and you wont have anymore threads about Cologroup being down.

Plus, ask that dynaspin dude how he likes his server.
Dynaspain and I worked out the problem, so he is happy as well. Go read the thread if you want.

Cologroup is a great company. If you dont realize that know, you will in the future.

How the hell can anyone be happy after 48 hours downtime? Sorry but I wouldn't care if you offered me a free YEAR, I'd be gone after that.

Yeah, he was pissed off, but he recognized what happened and that it was a mistake. Not only that, but it was a mistake of mislabeling a server by our old tech who was fired. I offered a way to make up for the mistake, he accepted it, and we are moving on.

if you need to move virtual

however you should step up to plan c for the shared hosting

i myself know when you are on a virtual host account, you will ALWAYS be risking having your site go down because no network is 100% stable with virtual accounts. the admins / host can't predict when someones account is going to spike in traffic, or a script cause an error that crashes the whole network.

if you can't afford the prices of dedicated / colocated machines these days, why are you in this businesS? you could be making more at mcdonalds

                                                                      billing structures

Dell Poweredge 1.1GHZ Pentium III, 512MB RAM, 36GB SCSI
Total B/W MONTHLY 500 GB TRANSFER

                                                                      $1100 U.S. A MONTH

                                                                      now take cologroup

                                                                      -Cologroup
                                                                      Dual p3 1ghz, dual 60 gig hd's, 1 gig of ram ($200 - $300 / mo)
                                                                      $40 - $100 PER MBPS (300GB TRANSFER / MO)

Cologroup also has "remote" booters, so when your box locks up, you can login to a web panel and reboot a box.

                                                                      So...which is more worthwhile?

if you can not afford a cologroup dedicated box at the prices above, you should not be in this business. they even manage the servers for you

get one of the cologroup admins to login to my box and post the uptime, its been up no problems for 6 or 7 months straight, if not more

There is a reason why people take their complaints with Cologroup to the board immediately. Cologroup among other hosts, constantly opens threads explaining this new feature or that new feature, rather than issue e-mail to their clients or choosing to advertise.

Therefore, they have made their business a public one, for both the good news and the bad. So, please stop complaining about putting the "cat back in the bag, " and try to stop people from discussing your shortcomings.

People are going to complain quite publically, just as others cheerlead for you, as long as you continue to play the boards actively.

The people I know who have virtual accounts with he.net are laughing. Seriously, learn how to provide your customers with the service or stop offering it.
