The thinking of the religious right goes something like this - Don't take our guns; we need them to shoot and kill all the fucking illegals and minorities we hate (in da name a holy jeeeeeeesus) because the usurper (Kenyan) isn't a real American like we are. He is a pinko commie socialist who wants to destroy American sovergnty. We need to overthrow him so we can kick all the non-whites out and prepare the Kingdom of Heaven for our Savior, who is coming down from the clouds in a magic chariot to start Armageddon any day now and kill everyone who disagrees with us.

They did the same thing when Katrina hit -- it was the judgment of god on wicked people for actually having a good time, something most idiot Christians are incapable of doing. When the Tsunami killed all dem colored people with funny names in 2004, they said it was because they were all vile non-Christians who rejected their shit rag of a bible and their stupid moron of a god and were suffering his wrath as a result.
