Rule in our home - no tree or decor until Dec 1st (or close to that)
Presents we buy in Nov and beginning of Dec - some of Amazon the rest from stores but its a matter of handing wife $$ then go shop for 5 kids. I don't need much.
Food is always a week before or arrangements for dinner so by the time Christmas rolls around we're generally all set except maybe a thing or two but that's just fun.
We generally get kids one big thing each - then a bunch of small things to fill up the tree but we also have family and guests come over so obviously need to shop for them - but they as well have stuff for us - the tree is always full... and the table snacked out with healthy stuff like vegiie trays - fruit trays and deviled eggs etc.
Gotta spend today putting away all the shit from the front yard (lots of animatronics, skeletons, a cemetary setup, lots of lights, etc). It goes from cool to weird pretty fast in November
Probably get the christmas stuff up closer to thanksgiving. Tree early-mid December because we buy fresh cut and I don't want it dead on NYE.
Our tree never goes up until the day after Thanksgiving, my husband would kill me if I did it any earlier... he always said if it was up to me, I'd leave it up all year round, and the past 3 years I have done just that. lol
It's just my husband and me now, and we hook up with the family at my oldest daughter's house, and everyone cooks. Up until about 4 years or so, I was doing all of the cooking, but now I do the turkey and dressing, and they all make the things to go around that. Thankfully, I raised a bunch of good cooks. lol
We raised 4 kids and now have 4 grandkids... so the family has filled up.
Nahh, I stopped spending $$ on decorations and instead give it to people I see that are collecting cans/plastic from trash cans. No, I just give $ to people standing and asking for free handouts. They have to be presently working for it.
I got rid of everything I owned except for my eight sleep mattress, autonomous standing desk, herman miller embody chair, gaming collection and some sentimental items, then moved across the country with nothing but a suitcase, computer bag and my dog.

Been there, done that!! I'll not be doing that again. I'm too damn old to do that shit anymore. lol
