I have a spare domain or three I could set up a private message board on and make it invite only and not viewable by guests.
Gwave is going to take time, like I said I signed up probably 3 weeks ago for an invite and still nothing.

It's a nice thought. One that has been mentioned and tried to some extent for various different issues over the years... obscenity laws, 2257, acacia, dot xxx, etc... there has been several issues over the years. The only one that anyone really worked on together was acaci and that was mainly the "big guys" footing the bill. Other than that most people donated to the FSC and hoped they would fix most of the problems. Stolen content is just another issue in a long list of things that most of the people here will never work together on. People either make money from it, aren't affected that much by it, are lazy and don't care, or just don't know what to do. Trying to get 2 people to see something exactly the same is a challenge, trying to get 5 - 10 is almost impossible.Rather than bitch about the state of the industry, and how the big guys are taking all traffic via large illegal tubes, perhaps some of us can work together for some common benefit.
Any ideas? Maybe 10 or 20 small guys agree to a tube with 30 second clips, run by one trusted tech, to get eyes on the collective site pool?
Maybe we can set up small regional think tanks, depending upon where you are located?
I am located in northern NJ, just 25 minutes outside of NYC. I would be open to hosting a small group here once every week or two, for drinks and productive collaborations for example.
Anyone interested?
Any other ideas?
I am certain 5 or 10 one or two person operations working together somehow, would be much more productive and beneficial for everyone involved, rather than to continue as islands onto ourselves.
For a big issue to be solved the only chance that would ever have of happening is for the big guys to put their money on the table, and for them to try to unite everyone together. Companies like playboy instead of sking the site with illegal tubes actually trying to do something about it, other companies like ccbill, big porn companies and hosting companies, etc...
For the "smaller guys" it would be good for you to work together in general for your own benefit. If you are good with programming find someone who needs programming work who is good at design, etc... work together as a team. Or if you are starting out with SEO work find a couple other people at your experience level and help each other out. That is the best way for you to work together with others. Anything else is going to be a waste of your time.Last edited by will76; 11-11-2009, 06:53 PM.ICQ: 86364801 Email: will [at] innovativeassets [dot] com

The purpose of this group is not too radical; it is simply to operate as a collective, on agreed upon projects (likely smaller projects starting out), in an effort to mutually benefit all participants.
I do not believe this will be an easy task, as most of the people in this industry are very independent, free-thinking folks, so it will be a bit like herding cats, but I think, as long as the beginning project(s) are simple enough, a decent group can come together.
To start organizing a preliminary participant pool, please email me at support @ PeckerPass . com with a subject line of "INTERESTED IN GROUP" and provide your email address in the body.
Uniting the interested parties within this thread as a jump-off point is a logical start, and we can go from there.
I promise nothing, but you never know unless you try.

Sounds great, but let's not allow the Google Wave account status slow any of this down.
Once a postential list of group members has been sorted out, we can move on to the next step. Wave accounts should not be a mandatory prerequisite to get started, as it will delay any progress.

This is the type of thread I like to see.
Don't think you are alone in being an honest, hard working, moral businessman / woman, because you are not ... there are still many left. All it takes is more people like this individual who are willing to make a change and stick together!
Nothing would make me happier than to see some intelligent webmasters come together and solve some Industry issues, rather than just talk about doing it.
RespectI guess I will need a google wave invite: [email protected] if anyone has one, thank you.Been running www.Lady-Sonia.com sice the late 90s and very interested. Thanks to all interested people above! Sorry if I missed any of you.
