    Events How many of you have your RealID?

    It goes into effect today.

    The REAL ID Act is now effective. Since May 7, 2025, federal agencies, including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), will only accept REAL ID-compliant identification for security purposes like boarding a plane. This means that standard, non-compliant state-issued driver's licenses will no longer be sufficient.

    I'd love to be at one the main US hubs right now watching everyone have complete breakdowns and blowups because they don't have one yet

      It's been signed into law for 20 years and the deadline has been pushed back several times. Yet plenty of people waited till the absolute last minute and are crying that they cant fly today.

          Yeah its crazy af, I got mine a few years back in New Orleans ,was super easy to get, the fact people waited so long, is totally on them not being able to make their flights

              I'll have to carry my passport, which I do on all domestic trips anyway.

                          The worst part of getting a new ID at the DMV is seeing how old and pissed off I look now in the photo.

                              I got my Real ID some time ago. Not an issue.

                              My wife, on the other hand, has been having one hell of a time getting hers. So far it's taken multiple trips to the DMV and multiple trips to the Bay Area and this still isn't resolved. It's really stupid. The last issue was our marriage license. The copy we had "wasn't good enough". It was good enough to change her last name to my name years ago, but not now. So she needs.... Another copy.

                              She doesn't fly much so it's not an issue.
