It's real simple sport. Let me break it to you so you can understand.

80% of your time is spend pulling video, compressing video, uploading video. So you have down time to do other things while you are waiting to do your screen caps, descriptions, schedule updates for the week on your clip stores and pay sites.

So your other 20% of actual up moving around time is spent interviewing models, doing a session for 2-3 hours a couple of days a week, submits, link building, e-mails, tracking, and so forth.

So what is obvious to most in the industry is there is a lot of down time if you are on the production side of things where you have 2-3 machines tied up crunching, or uploading videos and you are free to do other things.

Also, some of us actually use the boards for BUSINESS. Ya know, making money?

Yeah. Novel concept I know. Not all of us use it for our psycho therapy place to vent. It is not some place to troll, and bash people we've never met and feel like a tough guy with the threats, and keyboard warrior bullshit.

Foremost it does not take 5 hours a day to have 1000's of posts, not even counting the years some of us have been here. Many of us can type and read pretty damn fast. Making 10-20 posts a day may take 20-30 minutes a day. Though yes some out there do just sit around here all day.

Something else to consider. Early on I would spend 15-20 hours a day at times working. That went on for years. Over time we have learned how to work much smarter and not harder or longer. You learn to hire things out even if you could do it yourself just to give yourself some time if you want it.

Content wise you do your best to build up a stockpile. Often years and years worth. I could not shoot again for 2-3 years and still have all my sites update as they are scheduled too. Only thing that would suffer would be clip sales as they do need manual uploads as I can not schedule those in advance. I dump some clips up each day but that again does not take much time. Only real bitch to me is encoding, well encoding and uploading. Either way that shit can happen either with or without me. It is just a waiting game.

Paysites with a proper CMS run themselves. Assuming you take the time upfront and set everything up way in advance. Of course you need to monitor and check in on things but again not a major time sink.

GREAT points! Outstanding description of what a 'normal day' is for us. Barefootsies' day/rundown is pretty spot-on, too. I tend to post at the end of days, sometimes first thing (to get my porn juices flowing, ew) or when I just cannot stand the repetitive 'monkey work' that's so many of our's bread-and-butter (updating, emailing, uploading, etc etc) and need a break. Business IS conducted on here, BTW - a major draw.

My paysites run themselves five days out of the week and only need updating twice a week so it's not much time. But add up all the differant things a business owner has to do - and I won't even begin to list them here - and it can add up to a long day. But there's still time to vent. Shit, it's even healthy to, once in a while!

Thing about clip stores: I HATE how much man-hours it takes to update those sites! Hours and hours and hours just to get a week ahead (as in, if you're updating once an hour, every single day). It just burned me out out after a couple years. But then again, I never made over a grand on clips stores (only about $400 a month, and that extra $100 a week didn't seem worth the effort after awhile) so I guess if you're making coin it's worth all the effort..

I can't speak to everyone's use, or how they maximize a clips store. But I make more than that, and do not update every hour, or even all 7 days typically.

Weekend suck for me normally no matter if I work though them or not. So a year or two ago. I just started taking the weekends off. So I would still do a bit here and there, but typically nothing more than a few tasks here or there. Nothing like a normal day, or even a few hours.

During the week is my best time, so I only do tgp submits, promotion, links, store updates, etc.... etc.... during the work week. Weekends nada.

However, I can see where that would be brutal to do that much on a clip store for $400.00 if that. Most of the work is done by computer in compression, and uploading. So it still, really, only a half hour or hour's worth of real "work" by you sitting at the machine for that $400.00. Just seems like it is more.

But some of those stores ARE a bitch to schedule.
