                                                                                                                                      If you've actually done any research or SEO yourself you'd see that your position in the SERPs is in no way relative to your pagerank. The one and only purpose of SEO is to rank higher in the search engines, NOT to make the little green bar move.

Either way PageRank is being dropped from the algorithm, however the concept of building reputable/relevant links to your site still stands.

                                                                                                                                                  Make a site worth linking to and get links from sites that know what they're talking about. There's more work in checking if a site is "reputable" now but it's worth it in the long run.
